Here’s one of the questions Josh answered:Tell me about your years as a Coral Reefer?

That was the early 80’s. I have to tell you, those were dangerous years to be traveling on the road with a band, and the Coral Reefers weren’t any different than the rest, and let’s leave it at that. We were loosing people left and right, for all kinds of reasons. Deborah [McColl] broke her foot, Fingers fell off the stage one night. We needed replacements!

In ’83 Timothy B. Schmit and Vince Melamed came on board (Glenn Frey had asked me to help him produce an album Timothy was recording, so I knew him pretty well). The band was really starting to change. Sam Clayton from Little Feat even joined up. The band was really starting to solidify for the first time. Jimmy’s attitude was, “Who else can we get?” This was the time Jimmy was really starting to get big.

Jimmy was comfortable with the situation and would leave the stage 1/3 to 1/2 way through and let us do our thing, and then he’d come back on and it would be Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefers again. We were really tight and having a lot of fun.
