In the August 2002 edition of CHILE PEPPER magazine, there is an article about the origin of the Margarita titled “Inventing the Margarita”. The sub-title is “Some People Claim That There’s A Woman To Blame”, lyrics from “Margaritaville”. The article disputes the urban myth about the origin of the drink. Lance Cutler, the “Mondavi of Agave” says the Margarita is an evolution of the Sidecar cocktail, which was brought back from France by WW I soldiers, and adapted by necessity during Prohibition.
