Re: Chicago!!!
I will be making the trip back to Chicago this year from NE. I really liked Tinley Park. But then again Ive never been to Toyota. By far the nicest group of locals I met this year on tour. Keeping my ears peeled for rumors.

Re: Chicago!!!
I think he will be going back to Tinley Park from what I hear. Tinley had to get on their knees to get him back, and they are happy again and do whatever it takes to keep him there. The venue and town know that is one of the money makers for the area, plus it fits twice as many people as Bridgeview.

Re: Chicago!!!
I would love for the show to return to Toyota Park. Way better show experience and way way way better tailgating experience. Our group has always loved getting there by 8 or 9am and making the most of the day...Tinley doesn't allow that!
either way, hopefully the tour gets announced sooner than it did last year.

Tinley is an easier destination. Closer to 3 interstates.

Re: Chicago!!!
I personally would prefer to see Jimmy return to Toyota Park. Hosting the Parrot Dice Lounge at Tinley Park is damn near impossible. If he plans a date a Tinley Park odds are good I'll spend the extra money taking the big tailgate party with all of our toys to Alpine Valley. Tinley just isn't worth the stress and hassle.
What was funny was going to see the last concert of the season at Tinley Park and still seeing our pile of sand in the parking lot . . . The Parrot Dice Lounge always leaves a mark . . . Always.

The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

Re: Chicago!!!
So . . . to aid in speculation.
Available Saturdays for Jimmy In Chicago:
6/22
6/29 - I'm out of town so he won't play
7/6
7/20
7/27
I'm predicting a possible July date - Better weather potential. He's played Tinley late in the summer and dealt with cold and rain.

Re: Chicago!!!
For those of you who want Toyota again, I have to ask if you were there in 2011. The sound went out, and although it was pretty cool to sing Tin Cup Chalice with no band, I don't think that was something JB was thrilled with. We were in the 2nd row, and I can promise you, it was easy to see he was not happy. Toyota Park had the same issue with Kenny Chesney when he was there too, so I predict no Toyota unless they are able to get their credit back. Plus, Tinley gives him way more $$$ in ticket sales, and the bottom line is money.
No place like home when you're this far away

Re: Chicago!!!
The Wife and I got rousted in tinley park. We parked our car. Started eating out burgerking burgers. Still sitting our car when a uniformed officer walks up to our car. Starts YELLING that we can't sit in our car. We HAVE to go into the venue.
I told the officer that we are eating and then we will go in. YOU CAN'T DO THAT" You must leave Your car rightnow!!! So, we walked to the venue eating our burger and drinking our shake. The only place worse than tinley park is the house of blues.
That is why I go to Alpine Valley. I was doing nothing wrong. No beer, No Nudity. Just a bad cop. I guess that I could have bribed him.

Re: Chicago!!!
While Toyota had their issue in 2011 it was by far the most fan friendly. That can not be argued.
Tinley Park needs to realize the potential and capitalize on it.
Place beverage and food vendors in the parking lots.
Sell premium parking to tailgaters. Make it a bigger cash cow than it is.
Hell the City could $ell a special use permit to allow for all of it . . . People will pay the extra.

Re: Chicago!!!
Not sure what people are complaining about the tailgating ban at tinley. Last yea tailgating was allowed as well as the last time they played there in 2006. Tailgating is not allowed at any other concerts at Tinley, but they lift the ban for Buffett shows.
That being said, I am still a fan of Toyota park due to the proximity to the city and friendly parking lot cops/staff.

Re: Chicago!!!
It's not a ban. That would be bad. It is however VERY restrictive in relation to Toyota Park, Alpine Valley and other Midwest venues.
Lots open at 2pm vs when you get there or say 9am like Toyota Park/Alpine.
Space is also limited for those of us with more ellaborate tailgate arrangements.

Re: Chicago!!!
I also understand First Midwest's position as it is related to city ordinance. So it is what it is. THe venue is however isolated from residential neighborhoods and an open lot would not negatively impact traffic in Tinely park from noon-7pm. THe flow would be smooth and constant
I however am always one to believe that if I want more than whats offered that I should pay reasonably for the exception. So say the venue needed a special use permit of $5000 to open the lots at 9am or 10am. I would be willing to pay for premium parking space/location in order to contribute towards that cost.
For example, Premium Parking at Toyota Park was $60. I speculate they got about 150 cars into that designated area ($9000 pure profit because parking is free) and those people were granted more parking space to set up for whatever. I bought $300 worth of parking and I had no qualms about it.

Thats a rule at ANY show there. Been there before, and they make you walk around. Had to do that at Ozzfest 10+ years ago there.moeron wrote:The Wife and I got rousted in tinley park. False. No tailgating for a Buffett concert is not acceptable at all, no matter how great the venue would be.
