Now Yer Squawkin!

Post by BettyV »

I was just browsing through listing for Jimbo at Amazon and found a release dated April of this year called Now Yer Squawkin. I ordered it right away. Now I have to wait a few days.

What is your opinion of this one?

It's just a two disk set containing his first two albums, Down to Earth and High Cumberland Jubilee... Since I love both of those albums i'd give it a big thumbs up! :D

I don't have either of those so it sounds like I have lots of good (new) tunes coming my way! Thanks.

Is it here yet? I will run to the mail box several times a day until it gets here! LOL

What? Monday is a postal holiday? That's an outrage! It's a conspiracy!

OK, (muttering to self) calm down!

Be warned though that these songs are before Buffett adopted the "beach bum troubador" persona. They are great songs, but I rarely ever play either of his first two albums.

I play them quite a lot and think they're good records on their own.

They are indeed good on their own, but not typical Buffett. If you haven't heard them give them a listen it's definitely different.

Ah, a Postal Holiday. That sounds brilliantly....something.

Yes, you're correct, Jimmy's first two albums are not 'beach bum' etc... or typical Buffett. But Down To Earth and High Cumberland Jubilee do offer glimpes of the future and therefor are a must have for a Buffett fan. I don't know about for the parrots, they all seem to think Last Mango is his best album (ha ha) but I find his first two albums to be very interesting with some great songs and you can hear in certain tunes where he took certain - let's see if I can use it one more time - parts of songs to expound upon down the road. And that is the beginning of the Jimmy Buffett we all have come to like so much. And if you can't hear that then you have margarita deafness.
