In honor of the posthumous release of the new album and the hit song “Bubbles Up,” here’s the backstory on the man who coined the phrase.
Redman tells the story of how Jimmy Buffett had special training for water survival in order to fly in the Navy. He read from the book “A Pirate Looks at Fifty”: “I was told if I wanted to fly an F-14 I better get my ass back in the water”. Jimmy asked how do you know which way is up?” Redman said you can either fart or you can let out a little air from you lungs and then follow the bubbles and they will always take you back to where you started. “As I was strapped for my ride down the rail Red banged on my helmet looked at me straight in the eyes and shouted remember rock-star Bubbles Up”.
