Will Kimbrough talks about the making of the song “Bubbles Up” in his latest podcast:
EP 15: Writing With Jimmy Buffett/Bubbles Up and Beyond
From Will: It is with great love that I post this podcast. I wrote with Jimmy Buffett over the last 20 years. We recorded 7 albums together. When we wrote “Bubbles Up”, I knew he was dealing with illness. I knew it was a good song. I had no idea Jimmy was in his last months on this earth. Nor did I know that the song would be released and Paul McCartney would be talking about how much he loved the song, especially Jimmy’s soulful vocal. So here’s to Bubba. The Navigator. The Storyteller. We will never forget the way you lit up a room with that twinkle in your eye, that smile, that poet’s eye for a line.
“Bubbles Up” is on Jimmy Buffett’s new album “Equal Strain on All Parts”
I still cry when I hear this song. But it’s also a salve for the gaping hole JB left behind. Bubbles up is one of the most profound songs that Jimmy sang with his whole heart.
Bubbles up speaks to the heart and really makes you appreciate life. And also that every thing is going to be okay.
Although I never met Jimmy Buffett, I mourn him like he was my very own brother. He had the ability to touch my soul with his music and his most genuine smile. I know he has a special place in heaven for sure. Bubbles Up dear Jimmy!
