The Cincinnati Enquirer has a review of Thursday night’s show: “Jimmy Buffett shows Cincinnati love at Riverbend”
It was a big day for the prideful Cincinnati Parrothead.
First came the news that Jimmy Buffett is bringing one of his Margaritaville restaurants to Downtown’s future Horseshoe Casino.
Then he cooked up a made-to-order show at Riverbend on Thursday night, complete with all of the usual songs like “A Pirate Looks at Forty,” “Come Monday” and “Fins” and all of the usual compliments to the sold-out crowd’s hometown.
“Always great to see this crowd,” Buffett hollered at the beginning of the show. “Thursday night, middle of summer, Reds are in first place! What the hell is going on?”
Buffett and his Coral Reefer band played a 26-song show, lasting just over two hours. Amid those numbers, he provided some stats of his own about his historic run at Riverbend, told to him earlier in the day by his longtime Cincinnati promoter Mike Smith: “It’s been 25 years, 45 shows and 850,000 people,” Buffett beamed.
