“I was sittin’ around the hotel readin’ the newspaper,” Buffett started. And then he explained that a story in The State described Stan “the Man” Bowen’s dream to play with him and the Coral Reefer Band. A Buffett fan since 1977, Bowen had always wanted to play his maracas during the song “Margaritaville.” When Buffett called him to the stage, the crowd erupted with cheers and chanted “Stan the Man” as he walked out in his flowered sport coat and tall black pirate’s hat.

Then, the band tore into “Margaritaville,” and Bowen, stood at the front of the stage between two dancing girls and shook his maracas.

“Wasting away again in Margaritaville,” Buffett sang. “Looking for my lost shaker of salt. Some people say there’s a woman to blame, but I know, IT’S STAN THE MAN’S FAULT!”

The best part of the evening for me though was his singing of “Prince of Tides” as an encore. I have been waiting a very long time to here him perform that. That one song was worth the whole show for me.
