From The Post-Standard: Always high on The Pyramid Cos.’ wish list for Destiny USA is the theme restaurant from singer Jimmy Buffett, called Margaritaville Cafe. One reader, Steve Luczka, a self-proclaimed Parrothead – big Buffett fans – says he heard it’s a go. Employees at the Margaritaville at Universal Studios Orlando are talking about it.
“Being a huge Parrothead, I naturally made a few obligatory pilgrimages to Margaritaville to soak up the atmosphere and liquid refreshments,” said Steve. “Twice I heard from employees – after mentioning that I was from Syracuse – that one of the next Margaritaville restaurants is definitely destined for Destiny and going in right next to the aquarium. Their plan is Vegas in 2003, Syracuse in 2004.”
Pyramid has no signed contracts, but Margaritaville execs have visited our area and met several times with the mall owner. They’re psyched about Destiny’s vision and have voiced an interest in being a part of it. Drawings do show Margaritaville next to an aquarium, with a wading area feeding off the Erie Canal re-creation.
