We’re hearing rumors from Palm Beach that Jimmy Buffett will be back at The Breakers Beach Club next spring for another “beach party” concert to benefit the Academy of the Palm Beaches. Date and details haven’t been worked out, but the first one in April was a sellout, attracting more than 500 at $1,000 a pop.
Saturday, Jimmy takes the beach party on the road to South Beach to raise money for Alonzo Mourning’s Overtown Youth Center project. Only 1,000 tickets at $500 each will be sold, but local Parrotheads have a chance to win free spots in the sand. Friday morning at 8 at its studios at 2406 S. Congress, WRMF-FM 97.9 will hold a contest to find “The Most Outrageous Parrothead.” The winner will receive two tickets and a night’s stay at the Royal Palm Crowne Plaza in South Beach. Hopefuls must register in advance by calling 550-WRMF.
