| Jim Mayer was born in Ambur India. He’s the son of a Lutheran minister and the youngest of eight children. He was influenced by all kinds of music from regional Indian compositions to the Beatles. Jim’s talent shines on both electric and upright acoustic bass, playing with performers ranging from jazz legend Mose Allison to Ringo Starr.
Jim remembers Jimmy Buffett walking into the studio back in 1989 saying, “So this is my new band!”. Reflecting back on this Jim recalls, “We didn’t know who the heck this guy was. We knew Margaritaville and that’s it. We figured it would be a single project and maybe a gig or two. Twelve years later, here we are, full-fledged Coralator Reefermegators”.
Jim Mayer has release two children’s albums under the name “Uncle Jim”. The first album is called “Funky as a Diaper” and his latest is called “Let There Be Fun”.
Jim also records and tours with his brother Peter’s band “The Peter Mayer Group”.
