Galveston / Texas Hill Country

My wife and I are taking a 7 day vacation in Galveston followed by 4 days in the Texas Hill Country to celebrate my retirement on July 6th. We will be travelling from July 9th to the 18th.
Do anyone have any advice on fun place to go and/or what to do in Galveston or the Hill country? Also, any recommendations on good and/or cheap places to eat?
