Knockin' on February's door MONDAY @ the MSC

Post by Dr.Corona »

Good Morning Gang!
One month nearly in the books for 2023, with the short month up next.
Energy company supposed to come out this morning & replace a gas line here at the plaza where my office is located. Thus our gas furnace will be out of commission for a few hours. 19 degrees out right now with a high of 21. :-? Cranked up the heat overnight to get it toasty in here plus we'll use some electric space heaters to keep the edge off if necessary. We will see how it all pans out.
Enjoy your Monday BN Nation!

Good morning, Ken. Maintenance issues are proportional to the weather and temperature.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Forecasted to be back in the low 70's all week here on the Florida Gulf Coast. Even sat on the back patio last night with just a small fire.

Stay warm to those in the freezing temps!

I have a very "delicate" situation to deal with this morning. Will check back later.

Brass Monkey weather here too... [smilie=shake.gif] got down to 18° last night and it's 25°right now.
At least there's no precipitation in the forecast until it's a little warmer in a couple of days (if mid 40s is "warm".)

I spend too much time on trivia, but here it is.

On wooden battleships, cannon balls were stacked in a pyramid and held in place with a brass frame with holes for the balls. In bitter cold temps, the brass contracted enough that the pile would spill. The frame was called a brass monkey. This coined the phrase,"Cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey."

Cold, damp and dreary here too. Calling for snow ❄️❄️❄️ showers this afternoon. Yuck.

It's a slow day at the shop today. Getting ready for the craziness that is Valentine's day. 💖🤪

Good morning all!

Happy that my car started this morning, tho it groaned a bit. It's currently -2 degrees. Heading to a high of 7.

Busy work Monday, but at least the boss is still out till Thursday! :D

Heard that Bobby Hull died. :( He made me love hockey when I was a kid.

Afternoon BNers

Brrrr
Not as cold as some but it is 41 degrees and that will probably be the high. Ya'll know how much I hate being cold. [smilie=shake.gif] [smilie=shake.gif] [smilie=shake.gif]
It probably won't get this far south, but they are expecting ice on the roads as close as Huntsville. 🙃😵‍💫🥴 Think I will stay inside with my blankets!!!

Everyone stay warm!!❤️

Btw...in case anyone is interested, the QB for KC is from Texas Tech!!!!!

Well.....how is this for kick in the teeth.

Long story short, we have been having issues with my 91 year old mother, who can barely walk, and has difficulty getting in and out of chair and getting in out of a car without assistance. After a recent issue (Accident and Reckless Driving Ticket), the state required a driving test, along with a few other things. We figured we finally had this beat, as there is no way just watching her walk in, would they even want to get into a car with her.

They never took her out on the open road. Simply made her drive around an empty lot and do a few things. She FAILED the part of backing up. Yet, they passed her.

Ackkkk! My dad at 93 had dementia. His van had SEVEN dents and scrapes from hitting other vehicles. He blamed them on my mother who had died a year ear lier.Anne had a friend pull the points so he couldn't drive, but my sister had them reinstalled! That week he almost ran a woman over. Anne had him take a mental acuity test. He lost his license and keys then.
You may go through her doctor to get her off the road. She is a risk to her self and others.

Mrs SPH's mom is 95... today's her birthday. We were so very relieved when she, just out of the blue, said "I don't think I should drive any more... who wants my car?" That was probably 10 years ago.

This is what will happen to us when we need to deal with Kevin’s mom.

Sigh... this cute shark flag hung at Great Woods in 2014. I was going to give it to Sisitergoldenhair for their bar, The Shark Shack, but it disappeared. It may have been thrown away or stolen during breakdown.

It is not good. Some of her friends won't let her drive them anymore, nor will I. As I keep telling her, she is going to end up hurting somebody else before she realizes this.

I guess we've been lucky. My mom will be 89 in May and drives her car all over with no problems.
Jeannette's dad was driving from Pennsylvania to Florida and back every winter into his mid 90's.

Not that old but have needed glasses for distance and driving since the 80s.

At my last eye check-up the optometrist asked if I wanted a letter for the DMV to remove the glasses restriction from my license. I asked if my eyesight had improved that much and he said no, Maine just lowered the requirement. :o

When I needed to renew my license, I was prepared to just get an ID card. They gave me an eye test and I passed. 😳😵‍💫
Wasn't expecting it.
But, I had already told Larry and Ryan I wasn't driving any longer. I have very little vision in my left eye and don't think it is safe. I hate needing someone to take me everywhere, but don't want to take chances.
