I've listened through it once so far.......I like, a lot!
I'm glad it didn't go totally contemp country.....
Breathe In and Duke's are the real stand out songs for me....
Silver Wings is a sentimental fav.....my Dad was a HUGE MH fan, so I grew up on his original of this one!

i like it but like most of his newer stuff i have to listen a few times in order to give it an honest opinion.im not big on whoop de doo even though i love mark knopfler and im not digging wheel inside the wheel and elvis presley blues.

i got it at kmart for 9.99 today... i don't like that here we are is not a song on there.. and the problem is everytime i try to record a mp3 from the video ... it skips

so far I really like the cd... only heard three songs though lol.. but Weather With You is such a great song

3x listens, and it's not getting better. All downhill after Bama Breeze, one good track and filler. The best song (Here We Are) you have to load into the 'puter to see/hear, can't even listen to in the car/parking lot-tailgate party. A song written about Parrot Heads and available only on the 'puter??? Think I'll put on some live Jim Morris and try to get the speakers moving, they didn't for TTWWY.

im moving on just heard everybodys on the phone.. its alright until the end with the talking part.. now i just heard whoop de doo, nothin but a breeze cinco de mayo in memphis.. they sound like songs that he plays during the downtime between Volcano and Fins...

Crowded House were somewhat overlooked because they had the one "big hit" in the US. I'm so excited to see Jimmy do a cover from a band that fits in more with the kind of music I normally listen to.

1. Bama Breeze - This one is definitely an anthem for me... a trip down memory lane. I spent alot of time at beach bars....JB captured it nicely. The 8mm tape JB used in the video was perfect.

2. Party At The End Of The World - I've gone back & forth on this one. I like Jimmy's voice on the studio version and other things about the live version. Overall, I'm sure I like it, but there's others I like better.

3. Weather With You - I really like this one & the interesting subtleties contained in the lyrics. There's more here than meet's the eye.

4. Everybody's On The Phone - I really didn't like this one at MSG, and think that the music comes off somewhat harsh. I don't like Piece of Work and guess it's the Will Kimbrough thing. I do like the lyrics, I just don't like the tone in JB's voice in this song. I agree with LIPH it's nice to hear Fingers adding rhythms to the noise.

5. Whoop De Doo - I hope he releases this one as a single. What a lovely song. The vocal guitar duet is simply awe inspiring. Jimmy & Mark Knopfler....it's a good thing.

6. Nothin' But A Breeze - I like this one the more I hear it. Since I just found out I'm gonna be a Grandma... the line about being an awesome Grandma is hitting home (and I've got an awesome Grandpa, too). *wink* ....yea....life's too short, and I like my flip-flops in Dixie.

7. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis - Having been to the Beale Street Music Festival many times, and living in Texas where we celebrate Cinco De Mayo...I can dig this one....love that mariachi trumpet.

8. Reggabilly Hill - This one has an etherial feel to it that I really like... don't miss the message in this one. Always and forever...a new favorite.

9. Elvis Presley Blues - Why hasn't someone talked about that day before now....Elvis HAS left the building. It's about time someone sang a blues song about it. I like how this song sounds "old"....like it came from the days of Presley, Cash... & Sun Records.

10. Hula Girl At Heart - *sigh* (see sig)... the world needs more dancing....Jimmy, please do more of these, you have found a pipeline to your past with this one. *wink*

11. Wheel Inside The Wheel - I'm not fond of this one, though I really like the lyrics, the "sound" doesn't work...it's just difficult to understand & listen to. I think it's because it's not "melodic", nor does it ever really become a "parade". Definitely a deep cut.

12. Silver Wings - I grew up with this song, so I'm instantly biased. I love airplane songs. Jimmy loves flying. A Merle song has never sounded so good. Do it again Jimmy.

13. Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On - Keep your focus on the present...in the moment,...adapt to the changes and move on. The best lyrics on the album, a life lesson for us all.

14. Duke's On Sunday - It's been a long time since I've been to the South Side, but listening to Duke's put's the travel bug in me. A really beautiful song...glad to have it on the CD.

15. Here We Are - Through all the years and all the tears...all the crazy things we've done along the way. It's been a wild ride...I'm proud to have been there since 1973.

Overall Jimmy's voice sounds really good on this album and while there's a couple of song's I'm not fond of; I'm enjoying the variety of songs and the messages contained therein.

When we first left BB at 10:03 this morning I thought the cd would have to grow on me like Far Side, But I take that back there are some Wonderful songs on this cd with some great meanings, and just a good feeling to it...
I really like Reggblilly hill --who did this song origianally?

Love the meaning iN Breathe Ijn, Breathe OUt, Move on....wish I could do it more when things went wrong!

Could hear Mark Knopfler's sound in Whoop De Doo on first listen...(DH agreed!)

The video for "Here we are" makes me sad, It is a wonderful ride and who knows how long it will last..

All is all I think I really like the cd...

I listened to the RadioMargaritaville on Sirius radio and interview with Jimmy by Steve Hunnigton (sp) as I traveled from CA to NC last week. I believe the comments by Jimmy made the CD that much more enjoyable. I got my CD today from Mailboat and I honestly think it's his best since Barometer Soup. Maybe I am growing old but not up but I do believe this is some good stuff.

This comes from a 3 day road trip from CA to NC listening to Sirius 31 so I could be wrong!!

Great Album, I was in meetings all day so I was not able to pick it up until around 4:00 PM this afternoon, then traffic was horible on the way home, got the whole album in. The stand out to me has got to be BIBOMO, it is really a great song. As I may have stated my sisters house is NOLA is no longer there. Since the hurricane her and my brother-in-law are doing better than ever. It really made me think of her on this one. love it.

IMHO all in all it's good, not one I would label GREAT, but good. There are some great songs on the album. First off the number of covers keeps it from being a great album for me. With the exception of Take The Weather With You and Wheel inside the wheel, there are few songs I will frantically skip over when they pop up on the mp3 player.

Wheel inside the wheel is barely a song, it reminds me of William Shatners album he put out a couple years ago.

The songs are awesome, especially PATEOTW DOS, and CDMIM!! The Here we are video was amazing and almost brought me to tears!

Medicore-- Glad I didnt spend a whole lot of money on this one. At least the last one had more country influenced to it. This one if I left behind on a road trip I would not kick my self in the arse over.

Definitely a keeper. You can see how much Katrina affected him and I think there are some real messages in there in Bama Breeze, Wheel Inside the Wheel, and Breathe In Breath Out Move On. Even to an extent, I think Everybody's On the Phone isn't such a bad observation of our "instant information" driven culture today. In between are enough breezy and fun tunes like PATEOTW, Weather With You, Nothin But a Breeze, Regabilly Hill, and Dukes on Sunday to keep listening to.

Only complaint is that there is no way to get Here We Are as an audio track to listen to in the car.

I like it a lot!! Quite tropical sounding but then so was the last album.

And add me to the list of people that like Party At The End of the World! Everytime I heard it live he butchered the lyrics.
I still think that would have been a better album title but what do I know?

Wheel Inside the Wheel is not that great imo simply because it reminds me of rappin' Jimmy

I can't say that I like this one better that LTC... I like them both because I am a Buffett fan first, but then a country fan.

I'm very impressed that Elvis Pressley Blues and Silver Wings were included in this CD... Jimmy stayed fairly true to Gillian's vocal version, but then I really like the spin he took on Merle's Silver Wings.

Breathe In Breathe Out Move On.... this touches me since I live in those coastal states where you never can predict one season to the next. It is obvious that Jimmy was affected by Katrina and the devastation as we all were.

I'm loving Everybody's on the Phone and Reggabilly Hill.

This is a great addition to the ever growing Buffett collection... keep 'em coming Mr Buffett!

Hi Everyone - I'm peterholden81 <- The same username I use on Frenzforum.com which is the official Fan Club forum of Split Enz, Crowded House and related solo projects.

Already over at the Crowded House thread the Jimmy Buffett version of "Weather with you" is getting some good support... part of it being that the fans there hope it will convert some of you to the Neil & Tim Finn related music!!!

Anyway, to give you a bit of background on "Weather with you"...

[b]Weather with you [/b] is from the 3rd Crowded House album [i]woodface[/i]. Prior to that the 1st self titled album (in 1987)was a success in the USA with two hit singles "Don't Dream it's Over" (number two on the charts and has been covered by a number of artists) and "Something so strong" (number seven on the charts).

Their 2nd album "[i]Temple of Low Men[/i]" was a much darker album (1988) and sold only half the copies of the 1st album, however it did have a top 50 hit in "Better home soon" which got alot of airplay on country music stations, with it's mid-west influence. (I even think it might have been a hit for a country artist as well)

Anyway. Now with Crowded House seeming to be going backwards (1990) lead singer/songwriter Neil Finn took some time out to work with his brother Tim Finn on a possible "Finn Brothers" album. Tim's career was also going backwards since he left Split Enz in 1984 (leaving Neil in Charge, then to disolve the band!) He had success in 1983 with Escapde, but things went down hill from there.

Despite Neil and Tim both being in Split Enz from 1977 to 1984 (Tim stared the band in Dec 1972 and asked Neil to join in 77 after Phil Judd left), they rarely ever wrote a song together. However these Finn Brothers sessions proved fruitful with songs coming easy.

Problem was though, coming into 1991 was that a Crowded House album was due out and Neil was struggling for quality Material. In fact the first submission of songs for Woodface to the record company was REJECTED!

In crisis and badly wanting to use the Finn Brothers songs, Neil did the only thing that he thought was possible... He brought Tim into the Band! (a reverse of what had happened in Split Enz).

So the Finn Brothers songs where put onto Woodface and the album released. It FLOPPED in the USA due to the poor choice of using "Chocolate cake" as the first single. However luck changed for them in the UK and Europe thanks to the single "Fall at you feet" (and Don't dream it's over being the B-Side!!!).

The next single to run... [b]Weather with you[/b]. Strangely at the time of it being released Tim was sacked from the band because he didn't fit in with the "Live" side of the band (Tim's very much the front man, not used to playing a bit role). Anyway the song becomes a Top 10 hits across the UK and Europe and an instant classic. It helps the album Woodface stay on the chart for 3 years.

Crowded House release one more studio album in [i]Together Alone[/i] (1994) which is a hit for them in the UK, then a Greatest Hits collection in 1996 before calling it quits that year.

The final concert they play (featuring Tim Finn on two songs) is out the Front of the Sydney Opera House called "farewell to the world" where they play in front of 250,000 people! (Small plug, DVD of that concert out in 40 days from now).

Back to [b]Weather with you[/b], though its sounds nice and light as a single, the true magic behind the song is when it's done live and the crowd sings along. The BEST live version I can suggest you listen to is from the "Neil Finn and Friends live at the St.James" CD where Tim joins Neil on stage for the song... hear the crowd clap along during the middle of the song, then the acoustic guitars work in harmony before bringing the crowd into a singalong before the song closes... it's the version i believe does the song justice.

Anyway congratulations to Jimmy on his new album and hope it does well for him (hope he even releases weather with you as a single!).
