1st October MONDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning Everyone!

Chair yoga for me this morning and then the day is clear. Kevin needs to hit the Post Office as he has sold several things on Ebay and needs to get them on their way.

I removed some small whitish stone ground cover we had in a few places & replaced it with some dark grey larger stones that had been offered for free from someone in the Townhome section of our hood. Both places look much better. We have a large area with the white stones in the back yard that we were able to cover more. I also trimmed back a few annuals so they are (hopefully) ready to bloom larger in the spring. Kevin says I'm done working now (since surgery is on Wednesday).....we'll see :).

Met up with a neighbor couple last night to discuss the HOA. Lou has submitted his name for 1 of the 2 open slots on the Board. We are highly endorsing him. We need a former police officer on the Board.....the current Pres & VP have another year. The Pres is good buddies with at least 3 people who consistantly violate the rules. We were personally told by the Pres that notices and fines were sent out. Lous says he has confirmed with one of the out-going officers that NONE were issued.....sigh. Oh the twists & turns of an HOA.

So far the places we're looking at don't have HOA's, thank goodness. It would drive me nuts.

Breakfast has been made/consumed, and last of the dishes washed. We did pretty good at using up the food we bought for cooking and snacks. We donated a few things food wise, a better frying pan than what was here, and some beach towels. We have plenty back at home. We'll be heading back to Galveston to kill some time, and have an early dinner before checking into the hotel.

Happy to see another day of sunshine, cause my sister sent me a picture from Estes Park (mountains) and they have some snow.. :P

I'll hopefully check in later.. :)

Good morning Linda and Penny.

I have the 6 month maintenance on my heating, a/c and plumbing today. When I made the appointment a couple of weeks ago the woman in the office said they'd be here between 9;00 and noon. The plumber got here a few minutes before 11:00 and he just left but I'm still waiting for the heating and a/c tech. Today is going to be a wasted day.

Hey everyone!

Another nice day here but I did change out of my black "Great Pumpkin Believer since 1966" t-shirt when I returned from yoga.

It's Medicare renewal/change time. My retiree Medicare Advantage plan deductible is going up from 1500 to 3400 but the monthly cost is only going up $4.50 to $49.50/month (which also includes Dental, Vision, Hearing & drug plan) so I have some figuring to do. YTD I've only paid $475 out of pocket so.....we have a meeting with our realtor from down here (who is also now a licensed Medicare advisor) in 2 weeks to review this for me. But, based on what I've told her she's thinking I should just stay with what I have. So, I completed and emailed my renewal form which is due by 10/31 back to the County of Lancaster. I can still change my mind and Whitney would cancel that but we it gives me time to look at other options. Of course, I still need to pay for Medicare and it looks like that is going up 11% to $207/mo.

For you youngsters this is all gibberish but your time will come.

Around this time last year I was complaining about my car insurance. I was with the same company for more than 20 years, no accidents and only one ticket, 13 years ago. My premium went up $1500. Not up to $1500, up by $1500. Then 2 weeks later I was in an accident. I got this year's renewal notice in today's mail and I was afraid to open the envelope, I was expecting to get slammed with another big increase. My premium went up $137.

Hi there! I was healthy enough to fish while Anne stayed home. She got my bug.

Now I want to see how the HOA plays out, Linda. Years ago, my mom turned my dad in for junk in front of the house. The city director was an old friend of my dad and no files charged.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

The heating and a/c guys (for some reason there's usually 2 of them) got here about 1:30 and left a little over 1/2 hour later. At least I got to go for a stroll in the park and enjoy the weather for a little while. Now I think I'll have a cold beverage. 🍻
