Who would you consider the Jimmy Buffett of the written word, obviously not including Jimmy himself. I’ve read Tales from Margaritaville and Where is Joe Merchant. I’m about to pick up some some Jim Harrison and Thomas Macguane because I watched that Yeti documentary about Key West.
If someone were to ask me I'd say Carl Hiassen or Tim Dorsey because it’s Florida-lit. But my number one suggestion is Children of the Neon Bamboo, although it’s mostly set in Key Largo in 1990 (past prime Buffett era) it has the feel, the same spirit, the same friendly eye toward human frailty and well described anthropological/geographical nuances that endear us toward Jimmy’s style.
What are your suggestions? I’m a big reader and a big Buffett fan, I want to combine my two worlds.
