MOTM 2023, October 25-29 in Gulf Shores, AL

Of course have never been to Gulf Shores AL.
The thing that was great about KW was the fact that you didn't need a car to get around once you arrived there. Able to walk most of the time wherever you wanted to go or catch a shuttle. Hope there able to pull it off in GS as well.

This may be the last MOTM for me. Too hard to get to from CT , plus i would have to keep a car for a week. I will still go down to KW for other events involving music and some of the TropRock artist. It would be cool if artist and bars down there could put together a mini version of MOTM. Music and events without getting hotels involved. Some of the bars and staff will take a hit, with that empty week between FF and the Boat race.

Key West has now begun hosting a County & Western festival AND a Classic Rock festival, both in January so maybe one of those would be interested in switching over.............

If so, doing such in January is risky.

We have been very lucky with mostly 70 degree temps this year, but we have had spells of in the 50's.

The inquiry into alternate locations became necessary when Casa Marina Resort announced early this year that it is undergoing a major renovation, which the resort agreed to delay until after this year’s event. As details about the renovation have evolved, it is apparent that the planned changes to the grounds would make it physically impractical to hold Meeting of the Minds at the location in future years even if the economic obstacles could be overcome. The Committee has researched other potential venues and determined that no other venue in Key West is suitable for producing Meeting of the Minds without fundamentally changing the nature of the event.
A change in the basic structure of the event is possible, and thus a return to Key West for MOTM at some point is not out of the question. Nonetheless, the wise planning parrot head would take note: Meeting of the Minds will definitely be held elsewhere, certainly in 2023, most likely in 2024, perhaps indefinitely
in the mix for 2023 include Gulf Shores/Orange Beach, Alabama, and Punta Gorda and Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

Unfortunately Mother Nature pretty much made the decision for everyone

Yup! The Hang Out is listed as the Primary music venue.
Have never been to this area, considering checking it out for MOTM. Waiting to hear the details. Fear that a number of musicians I prefer may do "other" festivals.

It isn't too far down the beach from me...maybe 45 minutes...The beach area there is where Jimmy did the Gulf Oil Spill show, and they have multiple festivals there annually with thousands of people. Problem is, there isn't many hotels within walking distance. Most are down in Orange Beach which is probably 5 miles away. There are some up on the other side of the intercoastal near LuLu's, but that is still may 3 to 4 miles......

I can envision LuLu's and the Florabama being the places to be...
