I called the Cubs. No Cubs parking lots will be open around the stadium, and no tailgating was said to be allowed at the commuter lots farther away from Wrigleyville.
Looks like we'll all be in the bars ... See ya there with a Landshark in hand!

Dumb question, but what are the bag restrictions for Wrigley? Going to be out and about all day (buying stuff as well as carrying) and wanted to bring my normal sized backpack. Anyone know?
This is what I got off the Wrigley site:
This is what I got off the Wrigley site:
Q: Are the Cubs restricting bags?
A: No, we are not changing our bag policy. The Cubs will continue to allow bags, backpacks and purses, as long as the bag is not larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches. All bags, including purses, will continue to be inspected. Please consider not bringing a bag to the ballpark - this will help reduce your wait time at our gates. Bags cannot be stored and must remain with guests.

Sorry I moved! Fernando's a bit out of the way...new bar has opened within Wrigley environs:OttoCal wrote: June 13, 2017 1:58 pm Tix secured, flights booked, hotel (sort of) booked, may still change that.

Last time at Wrigley we attended a private rooftop party and had a blast, but friend doesn't livve in Wrigleyville any more and so we aren't counting on that this time time around, but will keep our eyes open for something to do. Maybe the Boat Drunks are playing somewhere? OH, I looked- they are at Fernando's Tequila Bar at 2 pm. That's about a mile away from Wrigley.

There's a lawn as well. It will definitely be a madhouse, but the outdoor space and proximity will be a major draw.

Who has the scoop on Wrigleyville bars? Headed up from Texas for the show. Recommendations on which bars to hit and if anyone is doing anything special for the show?

Well, your old apartment was convenient and all that, but you can't live in Wrigleyville forever
. As long as we can avoid a bus that breaks down at 2 in the morning on the way back from Alpine I think we'll survive.

We will be staying at City Suites ...walking distance to Wrigley Field.
Anyone else staying or has stayed there before??? Just wondering if the whole hotel will be partying...can't imagine they won't.

Re: Who's going to Wrigley July 15 2017?
Just an FYI. The Wrigley Bars have been VERY strict on their occupancy numbers this year. Meaning, once the max number is reached, no one goes in until someone comes out. It's been very frustrating this year. I expect the same this Saturday. If you expect to get in, get in early.

At the airport waiting to board. The weather's beautiful in the southeast so there shouldn't be any delays. There better not be, I only have about 50 minutes between flights.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Huey goes at 7'ish. Probably gets 45-60. Jimmy should be on stage by 8:30, and wrap just before 11pm.

Re: Who's going to Wrigley July 15 2017?
My impressions from the show...
The Good
Sizable crowd. Roughly 40,000 people. The popular songs got VERY loud in the crowd.
Seemed like more long-time fans than usual. A lot of old timers who knew the deep cuts.
Long set. 26 total songs.
This Hotel Room. Last Mango was fun and hasn't been played in Chicago in quite a while. I'm usually not a big fan of the "something different" songs, but Mac brought the house down with Little Martha.
The bathrooms were really clean and very quick.
Sight lines weren't too bad.
The Bad
Lack of tailgating coupled with packed bars and high beer prices. It felt like a large part of the day was missing without the sights, smells, and sounds of the tailgate.
For as many of the old-timers who came out, there were also just as many more people who were there just to be at Wrigley, get hammered on one Bud Light, hear Margaritaville/Volcano/BEG/Five O'Clock Somewhere, and take Snapchat photos the rest of the time. I had a really hard time hearing the music during any non-"yellow album" song because people were just talking the whole time.
Not a whole from "Changes" on its 40th anniversary. Just CILCIA and the medley. Perfect opportunity for Banana Republics given the Steve Goodman connection that never came to pass. Weather With You. Not a great song and I feel like we get it every other year at either Chicago or Alpine. Great Filling Station Holdup. Played for no there reason but to get the Midnight Rider snippet in there for Greg Allman when Little Martha was light years better anyway.
Kind of the same paint-by-numers ending we've gotten for the past four years or so, in terms of Pirate Looks at 40, Southern Cross, OPH, and (more recently) Love and Luck coming at the tail end of the set.
Overall, it was a decent show, but after Wrigley last night and Northerly Island in 2013, I don't know that I'd go to another show in the City of Chicago proper again. Between the insane traffic and the lack of tailgating or heavily-restricted tailgating, it just doesn't feel right.
