Jimmy's Net Worth
Back in the mid '90's I remember Jimmy being on the cover of "inc." magazine. At that time they estimated his net worth at $133mm. So I was curious as to what it is now. Here is a list of the richest lead singers currently (this was published February 2013):
***The figures contained in this list were acquired from all publicly available information including salaries, real estate holdings, divorces, record sales, royalties and endorsements. The final net worths come from a formula that takes out taxes, manager's fees, agents' fees, and lifestyle.***
The 50 Richest Lead Singers in the World:
■#1: Paul McCartney Net Worth – $800 Million (The Beatles)
■#2: Bono Net Worth – $600 Million (U2)
***There was a time when Bono's net worth could have topped $1 billion. Through his private equity venture Elevation Partners, Bono purchased a 1.5% private stake in Facebook long before the IPO. Had the company achieved a $100 billion market cap, Bono may have been the first billionaire rock star. Currently Facebook's market cap is $44 billion.***
■#3: Jimmy Buffett Net Worth – $400 Million
■#4: Elton John Net Worth – $320 Million (Solo)
■#5: Mick Jagger Net Worth – $305 Million (The Rolling Stones)
■#6: Gene Simmons Net Worth – $300 Million (KISS)
■#7: Sting Net Worth – $290 Million (The Police, Solo)

my rule of thumb is: net worth = price of airplane * 10

As a card carrying liberal how does Jimmy reconcile being a 3%-er?

Re: Jimmy's Net Worth
There's a tale often told of someone (perhaps a band member) going after Buffett following a show. Some may have figured he had retreated to his motel room for drink, groupies and other forms of merriment. Instead, when they cracked the door open what they saw was Buffett sorting that evening's earnings on the bed. That ties in directly with his own admission of being just as much of a businessman as he is an entertainer.LiveandletLiver wrote:As a card carrying liberal how does Jimmy reconcile being a 3%-er?

Net Worth = total price of airplanes * 10 + total price of boats * 20AlbatrossFlyer wrote:my rule of thumb is: net worth = price of airplane * 10

People who ask me what I’m doing tomorrow probably assume that I even know what day of the week it is.

Re: Jimmy's Net Worth
I'm willing to engage in discussion.
I have liberal leaning views. I have conservative leaning views.
It depends whether I am discussing abortion, marriage, money, taxes,
government, voting rights, the environment or some other topic
as to whether anyone
would wish to classify me as liberal or conservative.
That outsider classification and labeling would differ depending upon the discussion at hand.
I won't pigeonhole myself into a label one way or the other. Others may. I won't.
On the whole most others would probably characterize me as a liberal.
I don't see where the amount of my personal wealth or lack thereof
should require me to reconcile with a label of liberal or conservative.

Re: Jimmy's Net Worth
Ring-a-ding means yours truly and putting me on ignore because I'm narrow minded is so rich with irony I will smile for days.
Okay kids here is what I was getting at. Jimmy and Bono both campaigned for President Obama and one must assume they share his view that the majority of the wealth in our nation is controlled by a small percentage of the population. They are part of that percentage but while I see charitable acts by both there has been no mass redistribution of their wealth to the less fortunate. Could they live happily on 10% of their wealth? I could. Should they have to? No but therein lies the issue.
The thing that gets me going is the contradiction between platforms and actions. The boob Rush Limbaugh is a druggie yet all of his followers ignore that flaw and listen to his high moral tone. Obama hob nobs with the rich in the entertainment world who helped get him elected and has amassed great personal wealth while telling his constituents the rich are evil and there should be income redistribution. Ergo my post.
Agree or not it's a valid question.

Re: Jimmy's Net Worth
Regardless his political views (whatever they are, I don't know him so I don't know his views) I would guess he "reconciles" it with his hard work, work ethic and bussiness savvy. I will never understand the liberal idea of wealth distribution-"No matter how you got it you have more money than me so give me some of yours".LiveandletLiver wrote:As a card carrying liberal how does Jimmy reconcile being a 3%-er?
Who ever you are, if you work hard and smart, save your money and whether at the end of the day you have $400.00 or $400,000,000.00 my attitude is "good for you, I'm happy for you." Not-Now give me some.
I would love to see Jimmy at the top of this list someday and yes, a couple of my sheckles are in there.
