Re: Who is going to Nashville April 27
I AM!!! And let me tell you, it was a tough decision because Slightly Stoopid is playing in Nashville the same night. But I see the Stoopids all the time... I actually couldn't see Jimmy Buffett play last year because he didn't come near me at all... so I have to make up for it considering I have seen at least one Buffett show every year since I was 9-years-old. I'd like to get information on any tailgate groups that would accept me being a part of it. I moved to Nashville two years ago from South Carolina, away from all my friends & family that typically go to Buffett shows with me. Not sure my friends that I have made here would be interested in a Buffett show.

I'm thinking of going if I can find a reasonably priced hotel and cheap airfare.

I can drive to this one.
I may have my step son come up from Huntsville. He had a great time at the Las Vegas concert in 2010.

I'll be there! Just driving up from Chattanooga and it'll be much easier on a Saturday than trying to work around the Tuesday night in Atlanta.
I feel sorry for those looking for a hotel downtown. They are either all gone or near $300. Much cheaper to stay futher out and get a taxi into town at that price.
For those that have been to a Buffett concert at Bridgestone before how is the tailgating handled? Is there a surface lot next to the arena? All I see is the garage about a block away.
Edit: Also is there always a ticket presale with a password? My first concert was in Atlanta last year and I didn't buy tickets on the day they came out.

If it's cheaper to stay further out and cab it into town, any recommendations from the locals would be appreciated. I've only been to Nashville once and it was 11 years ago so I don't know the area at all. I don't want to book a cheap hotel and find out it's cheap because it's a dump or in a crappy area. Thanks.

Last time he played Bridgestone Margaritaville shut down the block of Broadway where they sit and had a street party. He usually has a fun guest at shows here, but the tailgate situation leaves a little to be desired. There are a few surface lots, but most have been built over with garages. I keep hoping people will take over the surface lots across the pedestrian bridge (which leads to Bridgestobe) next to LP Field, but a Margaritaville street part and the proximity to air conditioned bars tends to kill that possibility.

One block. Margaritaville is at the corner of 4th and Broad. The arena takes up the block between 5th and 6th on Broad.LIPH wrote:Lesley, how far is Margaritaville from the venue?
In other news, holy mother of Moses, they are gouging the crap out of the hotel rooms.

Re: Who is going to Nashville April 27
In another thread, somebody mentioned some kind of country music event going on that same weekend. Maybe that's why the hotels are so expensive.

The Days Inn at the stadium is really close and still looks to have a few rooms available at $254 for both nights.
You'll have the added bonus of staying at the "King of the Road" where Jimmy jumped on top of Buford Pusser's car.

Thanks, now to hope for cheap airfare but that can wait until next week when I see if I can get a good seat for the show.

Re: Who is going to Nashville April 27
Sadly, there is NO tailgating. And the last time Jimmy was in town, people begged to have a tailgate at the LP field parking lot, even suggested they charge a nominal fee to park there. No go.
The band that the Margaritaville cafe people lined up wasn't very....Parrothead-y, mostly country-like. We certainly can't afford a $300-a-night hotel room.....don't think this one is a possibility, I think.
Unless something changes.

Country music half marathon that same weekend, that's why most hotels are sold out!

Effing Broadway is going to be shut down half the day for the stupid race. Honest to God, the only worse weekend they could have picked would have been CMA Fest.kyhulagirl wrote:Country music half marathon that same weekend, that's why most hotels are sold out!

This is going to be a nightmare for people trying to get in and out of downtown for tailgating. They really ought to open up LP's lots this year.

Nashville tailgating sucks since they tore down Starwood. It's basically just bar-hopping.
