Buffett eats his words on growing old

Post by cdudley »

I just re-read the high times JB interview from 1976. Willing to bet that today he has a different view on what constitues growing old!

High Times: Would you like to retire say at 65 and go into rumrunning or some other kind of activity with a boat?

Buffett: Oh, that's what I'll do. I'll go down to the Islands. If I live to be real old. I'll go down there and become a character in a bar. I'll have enough stories to tell. I mean, what else do you do when you're 65 or 70? You can't get laid....

I wonder how Jane feels about that statement....... [smilie=giggle.gif] [smilie=giggle.gif] [smilie=giggle.gif]
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

I'm thinking if it weren't for Jane there are several of us here who might be willing to prove him wrong on that point.

I doubt whether any of my "predictions" about old age made in 1976 would be any less comical today......... :o  :pirate:

In a few days, Jimmy will be the same age as me: 64...
It does seem kind of impossible we've lasted this long, and that we're not the 64-yr olds we thought we'd be.
Mostly it's pretty satisfying, and if I had Jimmy's millions, I'd likely be even happier!
