I've only been doing this parrothead thing for about 5 years but....what i like best about it...and why i believe that it will last is that its about the friends i've made. It is really special to gather together a large group of mostly like minded people who all enjoy the music, the scenery, the sun, and a good party. The drunks come and go, but the parrotheads will always be there. [smilie=nod.gif]

i dont know which one i would pick but it wouldnt be the 2000's. My reasons for this is because its less about the music and more about the business adventures, marketing, covers, and tired setlists. The irony in all of this is that i started going to shows in 2000. And even though i have seen some amazing concerts, tailgate partys, some great music, etc., overall i think the decades preceeding were better. I know i am basing this on my own experiences and the "grass is always greener" mentality but thats just my take.

Best time is for the music, the tailgaiting, the parties.

Anytime that does not involve the growing number of people who just get tickets and have no idea who Jimmy Buffett is. The time before the poor distribution of tickets by ticketmaster and only those who have money get to see the show from the front row.

Time when scalpers would not make any money on a ticket. Only real Buffett fans sell their tickets to other Buffett fans for face value.

Couldn't have sumed it up any better.
I remember driving 60 miles to Orlando to a mall to buy tickets at the music store there because it was the closest one that sold tickets. And the tickets were only 10 or 15 bucks!!!!!
Gee, that was '78, '79?? It was great!! LOL

I'm really surprised and honestly impressed to see some of the anti-Parrothead sentiment being expressed here. I'm not sure if anyone has listened but when Parrotheads were the subject of a recent episode of WYNC's Soundcheck during a segment on "Super Fans" at least a couple of folks expressed very similar thoughts. That was very refreshing to hear. Not because I have anything against Parrotheads but because they expressed those thoughts without any sort of reprimand. Goes to show that fans of Jimmy Buffett and Parrotheads can peacefully coexist.

I guess I am just a simple guy. I like all of the decades. It's been alot of fun watching how this parrothead craze has evolved. I enjoy the tailgating, the shows, the people I meet and of course Jimmy's music. The whole thing just helps me stay young. [smilie=grinz.gif]

Great response. I went with 2000's. I wasn't really old to enough to properly, uh, "enjoy" the shows in the 90s. BN is a great way to kill time at work, and I love being able to have every show on my iPod.

Funny and well said - I have admit I have been on board since the 70's and each decade seemed to bring something new and exciting....I'm just glad it's still going on....I love hearing JB live and the last concert in Tampa brought back a flood of old concert memories when he was playing so many old songs....keep it going JB...I have pics frrom several concerts from old days and one day need to scan and post...yes you young ones.....they were taken with a film camera!

For me, the 80's were the best....that I can recall.
I was there when the term "Parrot Head" was coined in 1985 at the Timberwolf Amphitheater in Cincinnati, Ohio.

I was Buffett when Buffett wasn't cool.
