Enjoying new 'Tis the SeaSon album

Wonderful Christmastime lyrics
Wonderful Christmastime
The moon is right
The spirits up
We're here tonight
And that's enough
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The party's on
The feelin's here
That only comes
This time of year

Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The choir of children sing their song
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding ooo
Ooo ooo toot toot toot toot toot toot

Steel drum

We're simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The word is out
About the town
To lift a glass
Ah don't look down

Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

The choir of children sing their song
They practiced all year long
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong
Ding dong, ding dong, dong, dong, dong, dong

Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
We're simply having a wonderful Christmastime

We're simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
Simply having a wonderful Christmastime

Oh oh
Christmastime

Baby it's cold out there

Lyrics
I really can't stay
Baby, it's cold outside
I gotta go away
Baby, it's cold outside
This evening has been
Been hoping that you'd drop in
So very nice
I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice

But My puppy will start to worry
My goodness, what's your hurry?
She'll be racing and pacing the floor
Listen to that fire place roar
So really I'd better scurry
Bubba, please don't hurry
maybe just half a drink more
Put some records on
while I pour

The neighbors might think
Baby, it's bad out there
Say what's in this drink?
No cabs to be had out there
I wish I knew how
Your eyes are like starlight now
To break this spell
I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell

I ought to say no, no, no, sir
Mind if I move in closer?
At least I'm gonna say that I tried
What's the sense of hurting my pride?
I really can't stay
Baby, don't hold out
But it's cold outside

Pedal steel

I simply must go
Baby, it's cold outside
The answer is "No"
Jimmy, it's cold outside
Your welcome has been
How lucky that you dropped in
So nice and warm
Look out the window at the storm

My sister will be suspicious
Gosh, your lips look delicious
My brother will be there at the door
Waves upon a tropical shore
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious
Oh your lips are delicious
maybe just a little puff more
Never seen such a blizzard before

I gotta get home
It's gonna freeze out there
Left my coat on the boat
up to your knees out there
You've really been grand
I feel when You touch my hand
But don't you see
How can you do this thing to me?

There's bound to be talk tomorrow
I won't have a job tomorrow
A sick Scandal implied
If you got pneumonia and died

I really can't stay
Get over that hold out
Baby, it's cold outside

Ha ha ha ha

Drivin' the Pig (Manejando de cerdo)
Percussion/steel drum/trumpet intro

Christmas in the Caribbean
On the island named for snakes
Songlines took me to Culebra
For a perfect Yuletide break

I had gone there for the fishing
But when I stepped off of the plane
There was an air of celebration
I couldn't quite explain.

Drivin' drivin' drivin' the pig tonight
Drivin' drivin' drivin' the pig tonight

It's a smoky revelation
And a pork pie ecstasy
steering wheel is turning
T'wards a piece of possibility

Little Jesus stole our birthday
Christmas babies, we got scammed
But the freaking's for our savior
Come and join us for some ham

Manejando manejando manejando el cerdo esta noche
Manejando manejando manejando ole!!

Drivin drivin drivin the pig that spit
Drivin drivin the Macarena around the pit

Multicultural emotion
Make los Reyes Magos smile
Senorita would you like to dance
With me a little awhile
There is sea salt in her perfume
A culinary odyssey
Culebra's cookin
Really Cookin'
On this epiphany

Manejando manejando el cerdo esta noche
Manejando manejando manejando ole!!

Drivin' drivin' drivin' the pig tonight
Drivin' drivin' drivin' the pig tonight

La la la la
La la ....

Manejando manejando el cerdo esta noche
Manejando manejando manejando ole!!

Co Namo ??
Esta noche!
Feliz navidad.

Lots of misheard lyrics ...
A great adventure by Jimmy again. Makes me want to go to Culebra/Puerto Rico

Great story in Wall Street Journal about
"Drivin the Pig". Ha!!

http://www.wsj.com/articles/in-search-o ... 1417810943

The Award-Winner | La Estación, Fajardo
No one wanted to give the top lechón prize at the 2013 Cattlemen’s BBQ Competition to a gringo. But the blind tasting couldn’t be denied: Kevin Roth, a native New Yorker and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, made the best pig. Nearly as shocking: It was roasted in a Ford Bronco. Mr. Roth’s La Estación restaurant, on the island’s east coast, is a former service station refashioned into a “Nuyorican barbecue” joint where an old dashboard graces the host stand and a BF Goodrich sign peeks out from the kitchen. When Mr. Roth’s truck caught fire, he made the lemon he’d bought six months earlier into lechonade—now it has a steering-wheel spit and engine-operated rotator. His cuero (the skin, literally “leather”) crackles satisfyingly when bitten, and it carries a smoke flavor like no other I have encountered. The meat is exquisitely tender, with salt and garlic pervading each piece. Mr. Roth uses mango wood for charcoal. “When I first made that pig, I felt, ‘Now I’ve come to Puerto Rico and perfected something that’s truly Puerto Rican,’” he said. Gotta love Jimmy's sense of humor

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth
Thanks to Dr Freddy in the Keys

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
Yeah my two front teeth
Gee, if I could only have
My two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

Seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Suzy sitting on a thistle"
Gosh, oh gee
How happy I'd be
If I could only "whistle"

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
Oh my two front teeth
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas!

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
my two front teeth
Gee, I if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

Seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Suzy sitting on a thistle"
Gosh, oh gee
How happy I'd be
If I could only "whistle"

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth
two front teeth
two front teeth
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

Trumpet music

Seems so long since I could say,
"Thister Thuzy thittin' on a thistle"
Dr. Freddy in The Keys
He'll replace both of these
Then I could start to "whithle"

All I want for Christmas
Is my two front teeth
My two front teeth
Gee my two front teeth
if I could only have my two front teeth
Then I could wish you Merry Christmas

I bought the album on Sunday. My kids absolutely love Christmas Island and we all had very high hopes for this album.
We gave the album a quick listen. Not a single song caught our attention. I will give it a second and a third chance, but my initial impression is that this album nothing more than a "Big Rig."

I am still looking for a copy. They weren't selling it at Mville in LV. Have checked Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, etc. Guess I will have to order it.

I listened to it on Spotify and I was extremely underwhelmed. That "Drivin' The Pig" song is horrid and most of the rest of it, to me, sounds like he's just going through the motions waiting for the royalty checks to start rolling in. Your mileage may vary.

It is a cute album and some of the songs are truly enjoyable. I do wish he would have left off "Mele Kalikimaka" since it is also on Christmas Island (albeit a different arrangement) and put on "Christmas in the Caribbean." Love that song and would love to have it as part of a Christmas CD. I have it on cassette as part of a compilation I think I got a Hallmark way back when. I need to get off my duff and put is an an flash drive with my other Buffett Christmas stuff.
well, ummmmmmm, yah, I guess I better come up with something witty to put in this spot since everyone is reading it.......

My thoughts exactly...

Totally agree. As a huge fan of both Buffett and Christmas music, I was really looking forward to this album back when it was first released in October 2016 and have to say it was a disappointment. The two original songs (Drivin the Pig and Santa Stole Thanksgiving) both weren't any good, and no adult should be singing "Two Front Teeth"- one of the worst Christmas songs, in my opinion.

The first track, Wonderful Christmastime, is the best song on the album but otherwise it seemed like he was just going through the motions when recording it.

The one Christmas song that I wish Buffett would record the most is Aspenglow by John Denver. It's a perfect fit for him to cover since he has played in Aspen many times. He even gave a shoutout to the Aspen High Class of 2020 this year.

I don't really disagree - except for the John Denver reference, of which I know nothing -but it intrigues me that you reserved going public with your judgement on this album for four years, although it sounds like the disappointment happened years ago. What suddenly emboldened you? ...Just askin'... :pirate:

Back in 2016, I read this message board frequently but was not actually a registered member. So I'm trying to make up for lost time here by posting what I should have posted back then.

The John Denver reference is the first track from side one of his album Rocky Mountain Christmas.
