And it’s been something like 33 days since I renewed mine, and the lady did tell me it would be 4-6 weeks, so I guess I should just cool my jets.

Did you expedite it? If not it could take up to 60+ days. I think you can check on the status, but give it at least 3 weeks before you do.

New one still hasn’t arrived. I’m getting VERY antsy and impatient.

I didn’t expedite it. I didn’t know that was an option.
It’s been two days shy of five weeks now.

If you did it at the Post Office I am surprised they did not ask you. Or if they did ask when you needed it, figured that was not important. Spring is a big renewal time and depending where you live/how far from the processing area for passports.
try here, you are still under 6 weeks: https://passportstatus.state.gov

I did do it at the post office, and they didn’t ask. I checked that link you posted, and it said “being processed.” Then said something about 4-6 weeks. It’s been five weeks, so not panicking. Coming down to the wire now. For those of you that may not have traveled in Europe, or only experienced a few countries. Many hotels do not have wash cloths/face cloths. I've stayed in Dublin and was surprised that the smaller towns had them but not in the Dublin Hotel I stayed at.
Buy a packet before you leave to take with you. All else fails, you have something to wrap your treasures with coming home.

Has anybody ever been in the Amsterdam airport? The cheapest flight I found is on Delta and it has connections in Detroit and Amsterdam on the way over and Atlanta on the way home. There's just under 4 hours between flights in Amsterdam so I'm not worried about missing a flight but it's a country where I don't speak the language so I don't want to spend my time walking around the airport looking like a doofus. Or more of a doofus than usual. I found a lower fare on American but I'm not counting that one, it has a 12 hour layover in London on the way back and that's a big NFW.

AMS is a great airport! Used to have a museum in it. No issues there!

Bought my plane ticket earlier this month and now the hotel is taken care of too (thanks Holly). Just counting down the days until the trip to the motherland, I'm Irish on my mom's side of the family.
