Anybody got any Phin Power to spare?
I sure could use some.
Back on the night/early AM of May 31st/June 1st, while exiting a local establishment after a couple hours of karaoke performances (and a few adult beverages), I took one helluva fall... and being as I'm on the far side of sixty, I don't bounce all that well. As a result, for the past three-plus weeks, I've been laid up in the hospital with a cracked right radius, a fractured left humerus (broke the knob off the bone where it meets the shoulder), and a compound fracture of my left femur just above the knee. I now have a rod running the length of the femur and a half-dozen screws stabilizing it inside the bone... and another new scar to add to my assortment of battle wounds from other past mishaps.
I'm recovering as well as can be expected and the therapists are extremely pleased with the improvements seen to date, but it looks like I'll be in hospital until the end of June, and then transferred to a skilled nursing/rehab facility for a period yet to be determined, dependent upon how quickly I get use of both arms back so as to be able to use a walker.
So I may be a little scarce around here for a while, since I don't have access to my laptop and have to work through my phone.

It was. Three steps from the door to street level. I don't know if I tripped, or misjudged the first step or even if my knee buckled and pitched me off-balance - i do know that it most certainly wasn't that i'd been imbibing - but I ended up going down and landing like a sack of hammers.

It sounds like someone dropped a sack of hammers on you after you fell!Bicycle Bill wrote: ... Three steps from the door to street level. Make good use of the painkillers and get well quick!

Re: Anybody got any Phin Power to spare?
I wouldn't mind, but realistically it sounds like it's gonna be at least a month at whatever rehab facility I end up at, so that means it would be at least that long before I'd be able to get to them if they're sent to my PO box. Maybe I'll post the addy of the rehab - once I know it - and anyone who wants to can send something there.lime rickie wrote: ↑June 25, 2022 4:15 pm If you are comfortable sharing the address we can send some cards your way.

Re: Anybody got any Phin Power to spare?
A quick update:
I have gotten the cast off my right wrist and am gradually starting to feel a little less helpless. I'm still not independent by a long shot, though, and as of today (7/1/2022) have been released from the hospital and transferred to a nursing home/rehab facility in Osseo WI (about 60 miles north of home base).
It looks like I'll be here for two to three weeks, maybe more... or whenever I can finally put weight on both arms and am able to get around with the aid of a walker -- or even better, one of those 4-footed metal canes. I'm making it a personal goal to try to get back to my apartment by the 1st of August, so I can still attend my 50th HS reunion on the weekend of Aug. 13-14.
So if anyone wants to send a card like lime rickie suggested earlier, you can get "em to me at:
