Jimmy’s percussionist and 3-time Grammy Award winner Ralph MacDonald is putting the finishing touches on his new album, “Home Grown”, which is due out in October. It features fellow Reefers Robert Greenidge and Nadirah Shakoor, as well as the talents of Chris Parker, Will Lee, Jeffrey Mirnov, Lou Marini, Clifford Carter, Rob Mounsey and Tom Scott. The album also features the song “Meet Me In Margaritaville” heard during intermission and, of course, the source of the title of the recent JB Greatest Hits release. More details will be on www.ralphmacdonald.com
And Robert Greenidge is hard at work tracking a new (as of yet untitled) steel drum album to be released later this fall on Antisia Records. Many tracks feature the vocals of Nadirah Shakour, and Ralph MacDonald lends a hand (or two) on percussion. The record merges “Mister Greenaadge’s” innovative pan playing with R&B sensibilities, almost creating a whole new genre. More info to follow on www.robertgreenidge.com
