[i:fcdd8289e1]For a few hours late Wednesday it appeared that Hurricane Dennis might delay the arrival of the cast and crew of the Wil Shriner movie Hoot slated to be filmed on the island beginning Monday, July 11.
According to Ernie Malik, the production publicist, Monday’s filming will take place on the golf course of the Gasparilla Inn. On Tuesday, the production moves to the area of Whidden’s Marina and the Boca Grande Marina. On Wednesday, you won’t have to look hard to get a glimpse of the cast and crew – they will be filming on Park Avenue. On Thursday and Friday, filming will be centered around Journey’s End, a cluster of homes and cottages on the National Register of Historic Places located on 18th Street.
Co-producer Jimmy Buffett, who will record the movie’s music, suggested using Boca Grande as the fictional Florida town of Cocoanut Cove, where most of the movie’s action takes place.[/i:fcdd8289e1]
