Jimmy Buffett was at Martin Short’s "Fame Becomes Me" on Saturday September 23rd. Each night Martin parades through his pseudo life story bringing alot of his well known characters to life. About halfway through the show, he appears as Jiminy Glick, the oversized, bigger than life, celebrity interviewer.
Prior to his appearance on stage there is a frantic search for a celebrity to come and take over the show….and guess what…..they called out Jimmy Buffett. The spot light fell immediately upon my seat and everyone turned around and there was Bubba himself sitting directly behind me. Jimmy had come to see the show with his kids and in the company of Lorne Michaels, the producer of Saturday Night Live.
He jumped up and ran up on stage waving to the audience. And sat down for his encounter with Jiminy Glick. It was a hoot and Bubba had a hard time keeping a straight face, he had a real bad case of the giggles. Jiminy Glick first had Mr. Jimmy Buffett confused with Mr. Warren Buffett, but Jimmy set him straight. Jiminy then queried Jimmy about his song Margaritaville….and then blurted out " So basically you go around the country getting drunk?!?" Jimmy just about fell out laughing so hard.
All in all a very kewl night.
