More Reviews of the New Album

Some more reviews of Jimmy’s new album "Take the Weather With You":

The Boston Globe – Buffett’s ‘Weather’ isn’t all breezy (by Sarah Rodman): On his smarter-than-your-average-beach-bum new release, "Take the Weather With You," Buffett reminds everyone — perhaps even himself — that smarts and fun are not mutually exclusive. The 59-year-old Florida denizen spikes the rum punch with thoughtfulness both by choosing impeccable songwriters to cover and punching up his own contributions beyond goofy puns and tiki bar tall tales.

The Dallas Morning News (by Jon M. Gilbertson): Take the Weather With You – C+. BOTTOM LINE: Had James Taylor taken up surfing in the Caribbean, this is what he’d sound like.

Inside Bay Area (by Jim Harrington): Buffett handles both alt-country tunes and classic cowboy tracks — as well as other material — on this album. I’m really looking forward to hearing what the salty seadog does with Merle Haggard’s beautiful "Silver Wings." And, no, I’m not being sarcastic.

Richmond.com (by Brian Larson): Like him or hate him, Buffett has carved out a unique niche in the music business, and over the last year he’s raised a tremendous amount of money for Hurricane Katrina relief.

About.com (by Jolene Downs) 5 stars – Take the Weather With You is a wonderful tribute from Jimmy Buffett to his love of country music. He doesn’t give up his unique style, but incorporates it into the music to make Island Country. His love of the genre shines through and this album is well worth checking out. It may not be traditional, but it is great music and great lyrics.
