From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Jimmy Buffett will not play Summerfest in Milwaukee after all, festival confirms
Bad news, Parrotheads: There’ll be no Margaritaville at Summerfest after all.
Jimmy Buffett will not perform at Summerfest’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater on July 6 as planned. Instead, pop band of brothers AJR, who are opening for Imagine Dragons at the amphitheater July 8, will play Summerfest’s biggest stage on the 6th.
Last month, officials with Summerfest parent company Milwaukee World Festival issued a statement saying they would be providing details on Buffett’s July 6 American Family Insurance Amphitheater show — a show that had yet to be announced at the time.
In May, Buffett, 76, had announced a show in Charleston, South Carolina, with just a couple weeks’ notice. But that show was postponed indefinitely after Buffett was hospitalized in Boston following a trip to the Bahamas. A new date for that show has yet to be scheduled.
While Summerfest officials made a save-the-date announcement for the planned Buffett amphitheater show — including promotion in its brochures and on its website — tickets for the show had yet to go on sale.
In a statement on Facebook Tuesday, Summerfest officials said Buffett’s planned appearance was canceled “due to circumstances out of our control.” Buffett himself has not commented on the scrapped Summerfest show through his social media channels. Earlier this month, he shared pictures and footage of a surprise bar performance, but he has still not announced any major concerts.
Buffett’s cancellation is a major blow to Summerfest and will inevitably hurt attendance. It’s also the latest case of the festival suffering a last-minute amphitheater cancellation
With the horrific air quality issues in Wisconsin – due to fires in Canada – and his health issues, I don’t blame him for not wanting to be singing outside in Milwaukee.
Ditto! Lets all be cool! Perhaps it will be like Cabin Fever. Real fun and we got to unite! I’m in Michigan, the air quality is bad, not enough rain and hot. Maybe in the fall we could meet at Pine Knob. Im so very grateful for the 30 times Ive partied with JB, Reefers and reeferettes. Its not over YET, its just not the right time. Finzup!
Wishing JB well!
Listening to your past concerts and all parrothead hits! Wishing you well, stay strong, rest, and know we are here waiting to hear from you!!! Love to you and yours!

It’s unfortunate to hear that Jimmy Buffett’s performance at Summerfest has been canceled. The news will undoubtedly disappoint his dedicated fans and have an impact on attendance. Last-minute cancellations are always disappointing for festival organizers and attendees alike.
