He came at the invite of the Marines stationed there to celebrate our birthday. He didn’t perform for Cubans. He entertained the Servicemen and Americans stationed there.

Someone has egg on their face.. As a Parrothead for over 20 years and a Marine Veteran I can say that I would have loved Jimmy to show up on the Marine Corps birthday!! I’m sure the Marines there didn’t mind the support. Let’s not forget all he has done for the Wounded Warrior Project. Looks like Randa needs to reapply for her Licence to Chill!! ?
Maybe you haven’t been to Gitmo ( and I haven’t) but if I was a Marine I should as hell would have loved to see Jimmy play in such a hell hole on such a great day.. Granted Jimmy doesn’t really support the govt on troop deployment but he sure as hell supports the troops once deployed. He asked for no big televised event, just performing for the people that mean the most to him and us. You don’t want to go to concerts anymore, well great because us real parrotheads don’t need you or want you. You wont be missed. Thank you Jimmy from a vet, ( Iraqi freedom etc, 37 1/2 years!) And yes, one hot, sandy night at Baghdad Airport in April 2003 you could hear “Son Of Sailor” blaring across the fltline among the many Air Force and Army helicopters and I believe I heard a chorus going on…… Thank you Jimmy…….
