Chicago’s No. 1 tourist attraction is ready to welcome the ultimate tourist-trap restaurant.
Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Bar & Grill drops anchor Monday at Navy Pier. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. and a toast of super-sized margaritas follows. Parrotheads, the doors open at 11.
The island-themed grill, the first Margaritaville in the state, will overlook Lake Michigan. That suits savvy rocker-entrepreneur Buffett, who has reportedly eyed Navy Pier for years.
“I have always thought of Chicago as a beach town, a pretty big one, but still a beach town,” said Buffett, 64. “I am happy to call Navy Pier home to Margaritaville. Fins up, Chicago.”
