What to do when Buffett leaves us....
I read an earlier post about every show maybe being the Great One's last. As horrible as that notion is to fathom, I wanted to make everyone aware of my band, which plays a lot of Buffett covers, and that type of music in general. We're called Daddy's Soul Donut, and we're based out of Atlanta. If you are in the area, and at all interested about seeing us play, email us at daddyssouldonut@backpacker.com. Yes, our other hobby besides Jimmy shows is backpacking.
Can't wait for April 17th at Lakewood (I guess it's Hi Fi Buys now, but it will always be Lakewood to me). Maybe you'll see us at the tailgate, as I'm sure we'll bring our gear. Talk to you soon Parrotheads!

Heard that lyric twice last w/e! Very funny song.
Regarding what to do when Jimmys gone (assuming he goes before us), I guess we could visit him in the Rock-N-Roll hall of fame and gaze upon his taxidermic smile!

Kenny who?
I'd follow Kenner Rogers, Kenny from South Park, Ken from "Ken and Barbie" fame, or Captain Ken's Baked Beans around the country before I'd follow Kenny Chesney anywhere.
In fact, I'd sit alone on the ground and watch spit evaporate before I'd sit and listen to Chesney sing--he's got no soul.

When he retires, I think they should show repeat videos of his concert on the big screens at the venues This way we get the music and the parking lot too. It would be the same feeling for the people on the lawn since they can only see the big screen anyways.

Man you people need to broaden your horizons, go buy a corona and chill, I said that Parrotheads will latch on to the next best thing! and used Kenny as one example. When jimmy retires who knows who will be out there, doing the concert rounds.
So if not Kenny, then what artist has a "Tropical" music vibe and sells millions of cd's and could draw a arean sized crowd? Come on lets hear it

Nobody. That's why Buffett has the draw he has - there is nothing in his genre. And labels would never push that vibe - too outside the box. And there's NOTHING in the wings (unlike Phish and DMB which were in the same jam-band vibe as the Dead). I imagine once Buffett quits, the Parrotheads will more or less gather in smaller units for bands they already see - Club Trini, Amy Lee, the Mayers, etc.msu#1 wrote:Man you people need to broaden your horizons, go buy a corona and chill, I said that Parrotheads will latch on to the next best thing! and used Kenny as one example. One good artist
Jack Johnson is pretty good. He's a surfer, and does a respectable version of "A Pirate Looks at Fifty".

I'm glad that i am not the only one who feels that Chesney is not anywhere close to a replacement or a comparable sound for that matter. I think ole Chesney is a confused individual myself, trying to appeal to everyone and doing a half ass job of it, (grant it i am partly bitter because my girlfriend is in love with him). For me when Buffett is gone wether done singing or passed on; my list of favorite artists that are no more grows even longer. Marley, Hendrix, Croche. But its no matter, cause they keep rockin my radio and are immortal in my eyes.
