So Long January SATURDAY @ the MSC

Good Morning All !!

This is it - the last day of the first month of the year 2026. Looks like quite a few of us are waiting for Snowmageddon to begin or add to what is already on the ground. Schools here have already set-up "E-class" for tomorrow.

This was posted on a local Police Dept FB page [smilie=giggle.gif] -

PSA from Conway Police: ❄️
We already know what’s coming in the comments:
“I did this all the time up north.”
“It’s just a little snow.”
“It’s a country boy snow day.”
Respectfully… this is not that.
This is a South Carolina snow weekend. Our roads do not get salted like fries or like a Taylor Swift breakup song gets played on repeat.
Bridges freeze first. Back roads turn into surprise ice rinks. And your lifted truck, all wheel drive, or country boy confidence does not cancel physics.
🚫 This is not the weekend for errands, joyrides, or riding around to “see how bad it is.”
🚫 This is not a snow day side quest or a driving skills audition.
📺 This is a stay home, wear flannel, rewatch comfort shows, and mind your business kind of storm.
If you learned to drive in snow up north, we love that for you. Truly. But the infrastructure is different here, and the laws of gravity still apply.
Bring pets inside. Stay warm safely. Let first responders do their jobs without extra traffic.
Main character energy is great.
Staying home is better.

Good morning Linda and BN. Good luck with the snow - none here, tho it's needed A LOT.

Starting some laundry this morning. A bit more purging. Today is one of those I don't feel like doing much days.

Hope you all have a good Saturday!

Good morning, ladies!

Linda, I love the humor and common sense of the police department. We have a local department that frequently posts similar things on their Facebook page. So funny but so sad that they have to remind people of the obvious. I guess if it keeps one idiot from doing idiot things, it is worth it.

Penny, if it is a blah do nothing day, then enjoy it. I have learned that crap can wait another day most of the time. I have gotten to the point where I complete tasks then reward myself with what I used to call laziness. I still say that, but now I appreciate the importance of resting and validating to myself that I can take breaks without shaming myself into guilt. Just another perk of getting older, I guess.

Not much on the agenda here today. I have started laundry and done some basic cleaning. Got tax receipts ready for my appointment next weekend, and I might venture out to the store later on. Cold and cloudy here, so I also have little motivation to do more. I will vacuum and water plants, however. With long haired cats and a shedding dog, vacuuming is no longer a only once in a while chore.

Take care, all, and enjoy what seems to be the 2333rd day of January. I am so glad we are closer to longer days and hopefully warmer weather...

Good morning ladies.

I don't have to be reminded to stay home if it snows. People here can't drive in good weather, I don't want to be on the road with them in bad weather.

I think I'll play couch potato today. There are 2 hockey games on ABC, the first one starts at 1:00, and the Hurricanes play at 5:00 so I'm set for the day. 🏒

Trying to keep that mindset when I have so much to do to pack/move.. :)

Hi there! I'm prepping for surgery and tying up loose ends, so Anne doesn't have to do them.

I need to purge as well. The house is small and not much can or will be disposed of for now, but I have a deep 3 bay garage with a studio attached. I sold a boat last summer which helped, but now stuff is filling the boat space.

We have the same problem up here in the Upper LH Corner…. It takes just a little bit of snow to create total mayhem. Total idiots take to the roads in their Suburbans and Navigators and other behemoths, all of them thinking “No problem, I have 4-wheel drive” and none of realizing that they don’t have 4-wheel stop. Add in all of Seattle’s hills and comedy ensues….

Good afternoon, everyone. January flew by quick! I didn't realize it was already the end until I opened BN.

Bill? When in your surgery?

We have a lot of those can't drive/can't stop people out here, too..

So I cleaned out part of my jewelry box, leaving only things I wear, or sentimental stuff. Then I emptied 3 of E's drawers, much of which were papers from 10+ years ago. Just like his desk. Just like his 4 drawer file cabinets.. You're killin' me Smalls... :P

I don't know how deep the snow is and I'm not going to go outside to play in it, but from looking out my back window it looks like everything is covered. All the grass, the street, cars in driveways and the roofs of all the houses. The weather people were right, this is only the third time in history that Myrtle Beach has had measurable snow (more than a flurry) two years in a row. If we get more than 6 inches it will be the most snow since they had 14 inches in 1983 for the only white Christmas Myrtle Beach has ever had.

I think I'll have another beer.

Looks pretty outside and we won’t have NEARLY as much as our former hometown.

A few neighbor folks are driving ATVs out on the streets. Hope they don’t get too crazy.
