Lame Duck TUESDAY @ the MSC
Hello Everyone! It's cold & frosty here (and I don't mean my beer ). But at least the sun is shining. I called off sick today (only my 3 time in 16 months. Just some sinus issues but I just got 40 hours of sick leave dumped into my account. Not knowing the policy of leaving unused time (and not wanting to ask right now since we are actively searching for my replacement) I figured I should start to use some.....
Today is:
NATIONAL LAME DUCK DAY
On February 6th, National Lame Duck Day recognizes the ratification of the 20th Amendment to the United States Constitution or the Lame Duck Amendment.
The term "lame duck" originated as a description of stockbrokers in 1700s England who could not pay off their debts. The name later carried over to those in business who would continue to do business while being bankrupt.
In politics, a lame duck is a person currently holding a political office who has either:
lost a re-election bid,
chosen not to seek another term,
been prevented from running for re-election due to a term limit,
or holds a position that has been eliminated.

Re: Lame Duck TUESDAY @ the MSC
It's my day off today. But I have a therapy appointment, then I'm coming home to straighten up before the cleaning lady comes tomorrow, and I have to make potato salad for Bryan's office potluck tomorrow. Then I have a nail appointment this afternoon. So much for a day off
Has anyone heard an update on Molly or Moogy?

Moog was supposed to hear some updates today if I recall correctly. Fingers crossed for him most definitely!
Enjoy your Sick Day Linda. Sorry to hear the stress you're having to deal with among other things.
Received some unhappy news yesterday regarding my brother. Supposed to be getting a call from a surgeon from UofM Hospital in conjunction with the results of biopsies taken from his stomach. Hoping & praying something invasive can be done.

Good morning. I was a lame duck at the law firm. When I got laid off they kept me on the payroll for 90 days but didn't give me any new work assignments, I got paid for doing nothing.
I just read online that Toby Keith died. He was 62 and had been diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2021. I'd drink my beer from a red solo cup today, if I had any.

Good morning Linda, Ken, Tammy, and Larry!!
Hope you feel better, Linda!!
Ken - all the best to your brother. Fingers crossed.
I'll join you in that Red Solo Cup, Larry. This one makes me VERY sad. Stupid cancer.
Good luck with the therapy appointment, Tammy!
Me - not much here. E's phone just died yesterday. No rhyme or reason. So he's working on trying to get it fixed or a new one. I have a small ring that Cameron's father gave me when he was born, and two weeks ago the stone came out and two prongs broke off. Well, the place E and I got our wedding rings fixed it for me. Looks better than ever.
Work is work..

Hi there! I had a good workout and during cleanup I had Beer for My Horses in my head.
When Red Solo Cup was big, I parodied a guy who was fined for fishing minutes before the season opener.
Dead trout in bag
oh, what a drag
to get arrested.

If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Re: Lame Duck TUESDAY @ the MSC
Thanks for the update Doc.
The potato salad is chilling in the fridge. The kitchen is cleaned back up. My nail appointment has been pushed back 15 minutes. I don't have much more than going through the pile of mail and such and the house will be ready for the cleaning crew.
I think we're having tacos for dinner tonight.
I forgot to mention that the turbocharger went out on my car last Friday, so I'm driving Bryan's car and he's driving the clunker. The mechanic can't get to it until freaking 2/29! I'm not very happy but what is my choice?
Bryan asked me if I'd like to go to Maine in September! I said "you don't have to ask me twice!". Soooo excited!

Re: Lame Duck TUESDAY @ the MSC
Went for a walk in the park but I had to detour to the mall and walk inside. It's very windy today and my hair was getting messed up. Then I got home and did my taxes and I'm getting a refund of $1.00. I can't wait until it's direct deposited in my checking account so I can go out on the town.

Sad indeed. Boats to Build grew on me and I like it. But that karaoke song is an abomination so I hope that doesn’t start making the rounds again.LIPH wrote: ↑February 6, 2024 9:01 am Good morning. Yeah... not good news to wake up to this morning, that's for sure.
F'N cancer took another good person waaaay too young.
I don't think I have ever heard Toby do Boats to Build... I am only familiar with just Alan's, JB's and JJW's versions...lime rickie wrote: ↑February 6, 2024 6:53 pm Sad indeed. Welp, that’s the second time lately where I have completely misremembered someone. I was thinking it was Toby that did Boats to Build with Jimmy. Brain cells are fried.Caribbean Soul wrote: ↑February 6, 2024 8:47 pmYeah... not good news to wake up to this morning, that's for sure.

Re: Lame Duck TUESDAY @ the MSC
Happens to all of us! It is Alan Jackson who sings it with Jimmy, while Jerry Jeff Walker has his own version. I was hoping Toby had done one too, as I think his voice would have fit that tune nicely!lime rickie wrote: ↑February 6, 2024 10:02 pmWelp, that’s the second time lately where I have completely misremembered someone.
