Larry, you are such a tightwad......
At my age there's nothing tight about me, especially my wad.

That's just a sign of maturity.....My thirteen year old son's voice is starting to change....the other day I asked him if his package had dropped....I thought he was going to die of embarrassment.

I think I am, too!!

I think it's obvious that Jimmy's trying to make a play for Kenny Chesney's fans....

I know Jimmy doing things for casual fans is extremely taboo around here, and every move he makes is bashed by the cynics because he already has "enough" money, but most of us were new, casual fans at one point. Maybe he wants to add more parrotheads to the flock? And maybe he doesnt think he has enough money yet.
People here say Jimmy has lost sight and is 'making music for money' only. But just maybe some of us have lost sight of why we like Jimmy to begin with, to escape the negative day to day BS, not create more.
Sorry for the rant, please blast away.

Why would we "Blast Away" when you are 100% right?
I'm happy that Jimmy makes money...as far as I'm concerned: if he never made any money doing this, he wouldn't have continued doing it so long. And then we would've all lost out.
I'd much rather give Jimmy and the CRB my money than some of these ridiculous new stars of today who are always making negative headlines and posing for magazines, etc.
And I wonder how many people stop to think how much money it costs Jimmy to run this entire production? Ever hear of overhead? Talk about fuel costs. Ever wonder how much jet fuel and trucking fuel costs to haul around all these people and all this crap for the stage...just to perform for a bunch of ungrateful fans?
I know a lot of people think that Jimmy and the band members have these cushy little easy lives. I think they work very hard for their money. A couple weeks ago, I did his schedule for two weeks...went to 4 shows in 10 days. It wasn't easy. Life on the road and living out of suitcases is not easy. And if by chance it is easier than it used to be, good for him! After 30-40 years on the road, don't you think he deserves it?
Do you really think that Jimmy purposely made a DVD to make his fans angry?
He is trying to put together something that people will enjoy. That's what entertainers do.
If you don't like what he is selling, don't buy it. It really is that simple. I've already pre-ordered two of these DVD's!

I thought the price was pretty cheap for a DVD.

While I recognize the humor, I think that's a harsh implication, and a very condescending comment.
There was no humor, express or implied, in my post.

Not to sound horribly behind the times, but none of this matters to me. What good's a dvd if you don't have a dvd player to watch it on?

aaah who am I kidding? Jimmy could fart all of his Songs You know By Heart and I'd still buy it.
I can just hear the opening chords to Margaritaville now

Heck, I think a lot more of us would go for it if none of it was previously released. Most of it is from Anguilla or Wrigley it seems. Another idea they could have done that I'd be more inclined to go for (and is probably just as half-assed as "Scenes") is an updated track list more in line with what his greatest hits are today (beyond Five O'Clock and Hey Good Lookin).

Gee...I don't know....let's see how simple I can make it. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T BUY IT!!!!! Sorry...didn't mean to scream at everyone ,but geez!!! What makes you think he is only putting product out there for just YOU??? I can gaurantee you this will sell. If I were a casual fan and visited Margaritaville I just might walk out with this in my bag. Not everyone is a hardcore fan who wants just the old stuff that nobody but us knows. Jimmy has worked very hard to get where he is. Just because he puts out a product that has songs and videos you have already seen doesn't mean there is not a market for it. He know what sells. He is an entertainer, a performer, a writer of both songs and books, a business man, and a world traveler. He lives a life most of us wish we could. Quit being so selfish as to think he should only put out products for people who have been fans for the last 20-35 years, and seen him in concert 30-100 times. If anything it should be apprecitated that he is still putting out product and going out on tour. One of these days he will not be doing either and you will wish he would. Of course you will probably berate him for retiring...I mean....how could he retire when you never got to see him play the one song you always wanted to hear live. I'm sorry, but get over it....I love his music, I envy his lifestyle, and I wish him the best, because someday....it will all be a memory.
Just my 25 cents worth.
Thanks,
Phin
PS: I've been drinking....go figure

I think it is great that this DVD is coming out. This is especially good for the person who is just discovering Jimmy's music. This will give the new fan a little taste of what the guy is like live, and if they like what they see, they can dig deeper and buy more of this incredible music.
Simple, if you don't want the DVD don't buy it. Somehow, I have a hunch that many of you who are complaining will end up with this DVD anyway just to complete your collection even if you never watch it.

At least he is releasing SOMETHING. Will I buy it? No. Would I encourage a couple friends who wan to get interested or buy it for someone who wants to see what JB is all about? Yes.
Jimmy DOES do certain things for us die-hards, aka the Freddy shows. But he also does things for the fair-weather and newly interested fans as well. Who can blame him? If I was an artist, I wouldn't want the same old people following me around all the time and never gain a new and larger base.
Geez, soon there will be threads complaining about why JB wont release DVD's on BluRay.
