Well, it just arrived at my office. I took it out of the box and strummed an open E chord. Very nice sounding. I played a few other chords and some finger style stuff quietly in a conference room in my office. It looks, sounds, and plays better than I expected. Really a nice guitar for the money.
Also, get this...they are hand numbered consecutively in the series. The interior label says "#47 of 300" and has some hand written serial number under it. BONUS!! Really cool!
I can't wait to get this thing home and really put it to work with a pick. Thanks Jon and Sharon at MFG! I will certainly recommend you guys and will look to you for any future purchases.

HD18JBGuy..does it sound any better or different then the standard Little Martin LXM or LX1 models?...if you've tried them.
Thanks
Bob

Hey Bob, without trying to sound biased because I own the guitar now, personally I think so. Although, I haven't had a chance to use a pick and can only use my fingers for now, so it is hard to tell. The action is nice on it and it does sound surprisingly well. To me, it sounds like it has a little more sound range than the other LX models I played. Although, I did play a Blue LX model (another limited a while back) and it sounded really good and very similar to this one.
It might all be in my head, but I am pretty darn happy with it.

Thanks HD...I originally refused to pay this much for the thing just because of Jimmy's name, but it does look cool. I'll just tell my wife I won it or something

Won the guitar! That is a good one! I will have to remember that. She already warned my about bringing this thing home, so to please her I am selling another model I don't play any longer.
I would recommend buying it. I would put money on it that a few years from now, it will be going for $800-$1000, so you can recoup your costs, plus some, if need be.

I just got mine today. I must say that it was smaller than i thought it would (having never seen an LX model i coudl only imagine what a 3/4 size martin would be. I am still glad i bought it tho. HD18JBGuy, are you by any chance selling one of the other Buffett signature model martins?

Hey Bossman,
No, I am not selling any of them. I think I am planning on hanging on to them for a while. At one time, I owned three of the HD-18JBs and sold two of them. I acquired the other two (Shellback and Pollywog) after I sold those two.
If I change my mind, you will be the first to know.

I ordered mine Monday 02/08, through my neighbor, who is a mfgr.'s rep for several guitar and drum makers. Was told the release had been pushed back until mid-May. He hooked me up with Sam Ash online, whose office is in Tampa. They've only been allotted (12).

I didn't mean the release, meant to say ''backorder''. As always, G.M., Jr.

Now I'm really confused. Had occasion to speak with my guitar contact this morning, and in conversation, I mentioned the ''backorder''. He corrected me, and said the release date was bumped up to May. I thought that's what he said last week when I placed my order. However, there appears to be BN'rs who are already in posession of theirs. My contact is with a large reputable company, can anyone set me straight on this? Mostly for curiosity's sake, as I'm still going to patiently wait, and he hasn't charged my card.

Thanks for this thread. Just ordered mine with Jon at MFG. He has only one remaining in his allocation of 12. Will ship in May but that will give me time to learn to play guitar....

Hey GM,
In typical Martin fashion, they build these things in "blocks" and they ship when finish these blocks. I am assuming that the first hundred or so go produced and shipped and the other 200 or so won't ship until May sometime. This is pretty common actually, so your contact is probably correct, particulalry since you mention he works for a larger vendor.

Thanks for the info. I kind of thought that was the case, but wasn't sure. As always, G.M.,Jr.

I finally got around to getting some lousy pictures of the JB guitars and accomodating strap. The lighting sucks and so do the pictures, but I will get around to getting some better pictures once it warms up enough to take them outside (sorry, but I am not so daring to brave the snow).
Here ya go:

Great Collection Photo, can't wait to see them all together in natural light. Just got mine yesterday. I ordered it from my local Robbies Music In North New Jersey and it arrived last week. To my huge surprise I got #6 out of the 300. To everyone who will play theirs it does play well and fun. Enjoy!!!!!

Great photos HD18JBGuy, I got mine and I admit that I wish the wood veneer was at least laminate and not vinyl. I know this model is a lot cheaper that the other models but i woudl have been willing to pay more in order to get real wood.
