NEVER thought of that one... good choice. :)
Didn't Amazing Rythym Aces open for Jimmy in the early 80s? Think it was Volcano tour.

Would like seeing covers of a variety of of Eagles songs.
Hank Hill : Just in case I'm incapacitated for some reason, do you know how to start a man's heart with a downed power line?

Bobby: No.

Hank : Well, there's really no wrong way to do it.

I didn't even know they were still together until I googled them a few minutes ago. On their bio page , http://www.theacesforreal.com/bandbio.html, they mentioned touring with Jimmy but it doesn't say which tour. Could have been Volcano since they broke up the first time in '81

VAHEVALA
Loggins & Messina

I'm thinkin' 'bout
When I was a sailor
Spend my time on the
open seas
when we'd stay off the
coast of Jamaica

I'd secretly steal ashore
when natives waitin' for
the boy with the lazy soul
Sing with the sailor....

Vahevala
Home of Sailor
Vahevala
Homeward Sail Away

Vahevala
Home of Sailor
Vahevala
Homeward Sail Away

Every evening I'd be gone
Back on board by break of dawn

I'm thinkin' 'bout
The nights in Jamaica
Pretty girls dancin' here and there
Stole a Keg
and now I'm drunk as a Sailor

And Captain he don't know
where Billy he done go
but I'm singing with native girls
the song of a sailor

Vahevala
Home of Sailor
Vahevala
Homeward Sail Away

Vahevala
Home of Sailor
Vahevala
Homeward Sail Away

Every sailor sail away
You'd better be back on board by break of day....

Hold hold on me there
hold hold on the way

Every night in Jamaica I sing with the lady
and drink with the men till the morning appear
When the sunshine is fresh on my face
The song of the night put the ring in my ear
"Boat drinks, waitress we........nevermind"

He ain't wrong he's just different

Mississippi You're On My Mind and/or Just cause I'm In Love with You
Both Jesse Winchester songs
Actually, almost any cover Jimmy does I end up liking more than the original. I personally think he does an excellent job with covers! This morning I heard Stars on The Water by Rodney Crowell and could not get over the perfection with which JB does this!

Corner Of The Sky

from the musical Pippin

Everything has its season
Everything has its time
Show me a reason and I'll soon show you a rhyme
Cats fit on the windowsill
Children fit in the snow
Why do I feel I don't fit in anywhere I go?

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Every man has his daydreams
Every man has his goal
People like the way dreams have
Of sticking to the soul
Thunderclouds have their lightning
Nightingales have their song
And don't you see I want my life to be
Something more than long....

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

So many men seem destined
To settle for something small
But I won't rest until I know I'll have it all
So don't ask where I'm going
Just listen when I'm gone
And far away you'll hear me singing
Softly to the dawn:

Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
I've got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky

Jesse Winchester certainly gets a lot of praise from Buffett.

I think he should cover some Michael McCloud songs. Of course, lately his albums have been almost all covers!
