Walked with a 4 prong cane today! So hanging in there. May 1 going to PBA retirement dinner. I'm getting a silver card. A grateful send off from job. I am honored.
Same thing in the early 70’s, my junior high years. I lived within a mile of an alley. I’d watch the show, then get inspired to truck up to the lanes & chuck a few games.moog wrote: March 2, 2025 5:24 pm When I was a kid of the 70s I watched bowling on ABC. Funnily enough, a couple of weeks back, in a Facebook group of old roadies and muso's who all worked together for decades, someone posted a couple of photo's of a pub we all worked together at. The residency lasted well over a decade through the late 70s and the 80s- every Friday night.moog wrote: March 2, 2025 5:24 pm In my days of pain I sometimes pine for those days. In New England there is (was) ‘candlepin bowling’. Smaller ball, no holes, thinner pins. Those lanes are disappearing, too.Dr.Corona wrote: March 2, 2025 5:58 pmSame thing in the early 70’s, my junior high years. I lived within a mile of an alley. Yes! When I first moved up here there was a candlepin alley in town. Having grown up in NY, I thought it was so weird... but I have to say it was SO much easier for our young kids to participate than "real" bowling would have been. Unfortunately for the current kids here, the owners retired and sold the property... it is now a church.lime rickie wrote: March 12, 2025 6:34 pmIn New England there is (was) ‘candlepin bowling’. Been treating at home oncology said to risky in hospital. My oxygen sat dropped below 90 but improving up to 95 now. Still wicked cough. All appointments were canceled so really behind now.
