Good morning! Went into the big city for curling with friends. First time ever and didn't go too well. Now, I'm home doing some writing.

I've heard from a Canadian friend that the key to curling is to do it with a beer in hand - he said it was for balance!

Don't they use a broom in curling? Then the key would be having a woman on the team, someone has to do the sweeping. running and hiding now

The beer is only consumed by the curler... the sweeper does not imbibe, until it is HIS turn to glide the stone!

Careful now....this is a FAMILY board.

Dr. C - Thanks for the remembrance of today. Pearl Harbor is indeed a day that lives on in infamy. Sadly, it is also the date on which my M-i-L suffered a stroke in 1999, as well as when she eventually passed from another one in 2011.

A New England crumb muffin sounds like a wonderful B-day treat!

Thank you! The crumb muffin was very good, but barely lasted 5 minutes. Luckily, I have 3 more

They are from Wright's Bakery near Woonsocket (on the southern border w/ MA), if you were wondering.

YES, I was wondering! Woonsocket is just over the border from me, so which Wright's (there are several) has these delicious-sounding treats?

Hi Elaine and PIP, as an expatriated Rhode Islander, this made me think of a couple spots I miss a lot. I loved a restaurant called Ma Glockners in your neck of the woods, when I was younger and now, each time we return to visit, we always hit the Beef Barn as well as Wrights Farm restaurant. Two great places.

MA Glockners was great! Unfortunately it closed years ago.

It's very affordable, which is pretty nice. $35 or so for two fried chicken sandwiches, a fish sandwich, 2 whole dill pickles, 3 sodas, and three orders of fries
