It is the Final Friday of 2024 in the Cafe!

My incoming flight at Atlanta was at gate B20. I checked the departure board and my connecting flight was gate C41. Not bad, just one concourse over and I had 3 hours between flights. Just as I got to C41 I got a message on the Delta app that the gate was changed again, D25. I moved to concourse D. It's been changed again, D18.

Yesterday after the guy at the Cuban restaurant in the Flamingo told me it probably wasn't going to open until today, I went and had my hot fudge sundae. About an hour later I went and had dinner. After dinner I wandered for a little while then went back to the Flamingo. I went in the side entrance by the Linq Promenade and had to walk by the restaurant again to get to the casino. The guy I had spoken to earlier was there , he recognized me and came over and said they had just opened. I told him I already had dinner and he said "let me buy you a beer." We walked to the bar, he called one of the bartenders over and said "his beer is on me," Free beer, my favorite kind.

I should add, it's freezing in the Atlanta airport. When we landed the flight attendant said it was 43 degrees. I'm not sure if she meant indoors or outdoors.

Good Morning Fellas and all others who stop by for a visit.

It's raining at the Carolina Cabana. Again, this isn't a bad thing as we pretty much had a 90 day drought this summer.

I need to check the library schedule to see if there's chair yoga this afternoon (I haven't been in 2 weeks bc of trip to PA and the library schedule changing due to the holiday).

That's pretty much the excitement here except for a quick stop at the food store for bread and then grabbing 2 online store pickups.

I'm working again today and I'm scheduled for tomorrow too. Not much else going on

Finally home. I knew I forgot to do something before I left for the airport Sunday morning, I didn't turn my computer off.

I have to make a quick supermarket run, I don't have anything for lunch and I need milk for tomorrow morning's corn flakes. And I think vacation laundry can wait until tomorrow, I've been awake for more than 24 hours and I'm exhausted.

Welcome back, Larry. Hope it was a good trip, despite a few hiccups. But the free beer was a good thing. That ice cream sounded great.

Wow, nice to see someone named "E" open the Café today.

Fruitcake Day, Debbie? I actually like fruitcake. My Dad got a small one every Christmas from either Mom, my sister, or me.

Hope the day isn't too stupid, Tammy.

Work is work... Call off's and some resignations abound today.

I was standing at the deli counter getting some cold cuts for sandwiches. Another customer comes up and a second employee comes over to help him. When I buy cold cuts I get 1/4 pound or 1/2 pound. This guy was getting Swiss cheese and he asked for 18 slices. I never heard of anything like that.

Edited to add that Bryan and I like fruit cake too. Every Christmas our oldest daughter makes him a German spicy gingerbread cookie that has candied fruit and nuts in it called Lebkuchen. She started making it for a class project when she was in 6th grade and now it's tradition!

Hi kids!

Not much going on today. Spent much of the day doing laundry, making bean soup from the hambone, and putting away Christmas kitchen dishes and linens.

It is 3 and now I am ready for pajamas . I do love not having to work, but my entire routine is off. It is cloudy and mid 40’s here—they are saying mid 60’s and clouds tomorrow. Probably going to take down the wreaths outside and maybe tackle a few returns.

Hi there! Anne had a tire with a slow leak, so we dropped it at our local garage, which would horrify genteel folk.Think of a garage in Mad Max. They found the leak, patched the tire and put the wheel back on for 10$.
