RM Live Version Playlist

Post by mjlash22 »

New to this forum, but definitely not new to Buffett. One ray of sunlight through this unfortunate time is that we've been able to listen to so much more Buffett on RM. When I found this forum and saw the concert tracking/downloads, I was blown away by the passion of some parrotheads to track this history, but it also got me thinking...

RM plays a lot of his live stuff, most of which you cannot download through normal streams. Most songs having a very specific live version associated with it on RM, where others (big 8) may have more live versions associated with them.

Has anyone documented which live version of songs RM plays, or is there a place to find this data?

Examples such as Morris Nightmare, Jamaica Mistaica, Stars on the Water...Pretty sure I've only ever heard one live version of those played.

Morris is most likely off the You Had To Be There album. For other live versions you would have to rely on the DJ's.
I don't think there is an easy way to document which show RM is using for individual songs. Unless you record the song then search and compare all the concerts you have recorded or downloaded which in my opinion would be senseless.

Interesting idea...I will say they don't seem change the versions up all that often. They've been playing the same live versions of Boat Drinks and Grapefruit Juicy-Fruit for ages now.

Morris's Nightmare might also be from 2013 when played the song at several shows

Ahhh forgot about that. I haven't listened to RM (except Labor Day weekend this year) for a very long time.

The most common live version of Come Monday I hear is from the Woodlands 2008 show (and is the version on the Encores album).

Yeah, it may just end up being my little project once the servers are back up and I can start hunting. I've always wished there was a place where you could download all his live stuff, but I get it with the whole music rights thing.

I don't believe the one RM plays frequently is from that tour. You can actually download that version on most streaming platforms.

I often think about this. I noticed a few of the songs will include the year but always wondered about the ones that don’t. They probably come from several of the shows exclusive to their archive. I’ve been working on my own archive of live performances / songs this past year.

@mjlash22
If you haven’t already, look up Nugs.net, they have close to 80 live shows available for streaming with a Nugs subscription, or you can purchase them a la cart in digital or CD format. I’ve got a few of those live shows on CD.
