Soft Ice Cream SATURDAY @ the MSC
Another national "food" day
NATIONAL SOFT ICE CREAM DAY. August 19th gives us a tasty way to cool off on a hot summer day. Whether you enjoy it in a bowl or on a cone, grab some soft serve and enjoy!
Melting Ice Cream
In 1934 on Memorial Day weekend in Hartsdale, New York, Tom Carvel had a flat tire. After pulling his ice cream truck into a parking lot, the businessman knew his product was melting. As vacationers drove by, Carvel sold the softened ice cream to them. Surprisingly, they loved the soft ice cream! The potential for a new dessert was not lost on the salesman. Instead of a roving ice cream truck, Carvel could have a fixed location with soft ice cream.
Can't remember when I had soft ice cream - unless a mini blizzard from DQ counts - that was 3 weeks ago with grandson Eli.

Good morning, Linda. I love soft serve. We have a local dairy company supply most of the seasonal shops here.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Re: Soft Ice Cream SATURDAY @ the MSC
I love soft serve ice cream too.... when I was a kid, we had 5 or 6 different places within walking distance where we could indulge.
Now, I don't have a clue where the nearest place is. We used to have a Dairy Queen 10 blocks away, but it's gone and the nearest one is more than 10 miles away. Oh well; just one more thing that I like that ain't good for me.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but sometimes they have really good ideas…..

I don't care if it's soft serve or regular, I just like ice cream. I always have some in the freezer and I used to have it every day. I cut back, I haven't had any ice cream since Tuesday.
I had to Google to find the closest Dairy Queen, I had no idea where it was. According to Google maps, it's 4.2 miles away.

Good afternoon BN! Posting up from Reagan airport. My flight to Clearwater, FL was supposed to leave at 11:40, now postponed til 2:30pm.
I had a few drinks at the bar during the 'delay'. Now just chilling in the sun, outside at the smoking area, till I need to go back through TSA & back to the gate waiting area.
Love ice cream of any frozen state, hard or soft, doesn't matter
Happy ICE CREAM Sat BN!!

I like all ice cream. In a cone, in a bowl, in a blizzard cup. When we go on vacation to Bar Harbor, Bryan has ice cream every day!

Afternoon BNers
Ice cream? Yes, if course!! You know we have a table top ice cream maker. Ryan has so much fun making flavors. Last night, I had a chocolate and peanut butter shake. Mmmmm
Another hot day. And there are tropical storms lined up heading this way.
Oh goody.

Just left a local “bar and grill” where our professional musician friend Heather Vidal was playing in the outside deck. It’s a Beautiful day and it was great to be outside under the umbrella.
Friends are visiting tonight and we hope it stays nice enough to be out on the lower deck with the fire place going. AKA Calamity cove

Carvel is one of the many things I miss about Long Island. There was one right on my corner growing up. We did not go that much, so it was always still a treat when we did!

Hey y’all - love me some soft serve, been eating too much of it this summer, we have a great local place.
Tonight is seafood night, shrimp, clams and lobster on the grill. Corn and salad, too.

Re: Soft Ice Cream SATURDAY @ the MSC
Hi there! I spent 2 hours trying to fill in groundhog holes under my studio. It extends off my garage and the varmint moved a LOT of dirt and gravel, which I tried pushing in place with a garden rake. Combine Charles Bronson from The Great Escape, Bill Murray from Grounhog Day and any cartoon with Elmer Fudd and that;s how I rolled.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.
