Storm made landfall near Orange Beach, AL around 5:00 AM, with the most powerful side over the Northwest Florida Panhandle. Winds here approached 70 MPH and higher around 1:00 AM, including multiple tornado warnings up near CNF's, and haven't calmed down yet. Still blowing hard out there. It appears we have a few more hours of this. We still have power but as you can imagine, many don't. Rain total locally here so far is estimated at 26" and it is still pouring. Still under a Hurricane Warning.
Downtown Pensacola, which is not on the Gulf of Mexico, has nearly 6 feet of water downtown.

Good morning BN. Sally came ashore at Gulf Shores about 6 this morning as a Cat 2 with 105 mph winds. Moving towards me very slowly. Blowing very hard now but will get worse. Generator purring like a kitten and I have coffee.

Hurricane Ivan made landfall at nearly the spot, exactly 16 years ago to the date. Ivan was much more catastrophic, but Sally has some muscle to her.

Went to the bathroom this morning, and the water in the toilet had some small waves happening.

Not sure by you, but it appears to be getting worse. Surprisingly, no lightning.

Good morning. We're supposed to get rain from the remnants of Sally by the weekend but nothing like the Gulf Coast is getting. Stay safe down there.

Getting worse here, fence down. Blowing harder. No cable so minimal updates. Phone internet connection is too slow to watch local TV on their app. No lightening or thunder since it started yesterday. Camped in the laundry room around midnight for a while due to tornado warning.

Our power went down for just a few minutes. Cable and internet still purring.
there are two large trees down a few houses away from what i can see......i am watching a tree across the street from, as it seems to be getting ready to go. Hopefully it falls away from the house but the wind direction will make it close. Brand new house, and the people have been it for less than a month.

Re: Hurricane Party Wednesday @ the MSC
There's a subdivision of single family homes behind the condo development where I live. The house right across the street from me used to have a big old pine tree in the backyard, it must have been 50-60 feet tall. I think it was during Hurricane Matthew back in 2016 that tree was blowing back and forth all day, I was waiting for it to come down it was swaying so much. The week after the storm they had it taken down.MICHIPHIN wrote: ↑September 16, 2020 9:47 am Our power went down for just a few minutes. Cable and internet still purring.

This tree is maybe 30 ft high. I think the soil is saturated to a point of no return as it is leaning at almost a 45 decree angle....

The Islanders won in 2 overtimes last night. Fast forward to about the 1:45 mark of this video and watch the goalie's celebration. In the postgame press conference one of the reporters asked him about the Pete Rose headfirst slide. He's Russian, he probably has no clue who Pete Rose is.

Re: Hurricane Party Wednesday @ the MSC
you would thin from the radar that we should almost be out of it, but it seems to be getting even worse. This squall coming thru now has some of the strongest wind gusts so far.

The Weather Channel just said Pensacola Naval Air Station has already gotten 24.8 inches of rain. Another place, Bellview or Bellevilleville, something like that, is over 30 inches.
