It's Nat'l Camera Day MONDAY @ the MSC

Post by Saltx3 »

Good Morning Everyone.....say CHEESE :)

It's NATIONAL CAMERA DAY.
Everything comes into focus on June 29th each year when we recognize National Camera Day. The day commemorates photographs, the camera, and their invention. A camera is an irreplaceable tool used to record and replicate memories, events, and people/places. Before the invention of the camera, the only resource to document a vision was a painting. Capturing an image of a person or place in a drawing took time and skill. Very few people can perfectly draw the likeness of someone, let alone capture the essence of an event.

Who still has a "regular" camera? Can film still be developed anywhere?

I have a 35mm camera and for taking pictures on the whale watch cruises (when we go to Bar Harbor) I still prefer it to a digital anything. You can click away in fast succession without a delay and can get the best pics of those majestic Whale tails if you are blessed enough to see one!
Have a great Monday 😊😎🌞

Morning, pholks. Was never one for cameras, behind the lens or in front.

It's pouring here, which is good, we really needed the rain. Supposed to clear out by Wednesday and then looks like another stretch of really nice weather for the holiday weekend. Anyone planning anything in these weird times? We're hosting a small cookout, we have a nice yard to view the fireworks over the water.
You only have two options - havin' fun or freakin' out...

Good morning BN.

I still have old Minolta and Pentax 35mm cameras, both with several lens. Haven't used them since the 70's.

Good morning.

I still have a 35mm camera with several lenses, somewhere. Haven't used it in years. I have 2 digital cameras - one that's small enough to fit in my pocket and one that's like a 35mm with detachable lenses. I never take the good camera with me when I travel. I'd have to pack the camera and lenses in my camera bag and I don't need to bring anything extra with me, I like to travel light.

Good Morning Everybody!

I've still got a 35mm camera but haven't used it in years. I've got a small digital camera and a Canon Rebel, but most of my pictures are taken with a cell phone these days.

Good Morning BN Land!
Like others, I've got a 35MM.........somewhere!?!?!? Thank You Cell Phone industry for allowing those cameras to lay in hiding. Regarding photo taking my history is terrible about it. My wife was never a fan either, thus I'm now quite disappointed we didn't do better. At least with the Cell Phone I'll snap pics. Getting them from my phone to another media is another story.
88-90 degrees all week here in the Great Lake State. Be needing these 8) 8) 8)
Enjoy your day Gang!

A sportswriter named Tim Kurkjian has been writing a "This Day In Baseball" column for ESPN. On this day in 1950, the Yankees called Whitey Ford up from the minor leagues. He's probably the greatest starting pitcher in Yankees history. He's also a native NYer. My father had 3 younger brothers, the 2 youngest were twins. They both played high school baseball with Whitey Ford, one played 3rd base and the other was the catcher. They went to Aviation High School in Queens, which closed many years ago.

Afternoon BNers

I have a really nice 35mm type camera that Larry bought me. I used it alot when I first got it but it is so heavy and bulky to carry to a theme park or races.
We have 2 point and shoot cameras that we use alot and then our phones.

Good afternoon/evening.. Still sitting on the couch all day, healing. Things are going okay, but things just hurt. To be expected, tho.

And most of my pictures are done with our phones, but I still have a Canon Power Shot SX150 HD is still an amazing camera that I use occasionally.

Not much else to report. Back to the couch. :)

Hi there! I had a great day on a little lake surrounded by cottages and homes. The 200 acre lake has a 10 hp restriction so no noisy boats ripping around.
My first good camera was a Polariod. The color film cost a dollar per photo. I worked for a dollar an hour back then. Each click was an hour f time. I was very careful taking photos.
If I wasn't fishing in this all day rain,I'd be home doing something stupid.

Does anybody but hobbyists or professionals even use cameras any more, or is everything "taken with my iPhone"?

Being a reformed professional photographer I lugged cameras, both film and digital, around with me everyday for years. I have broken that habit as where I work (when we are allowed on site!!!!) has bans on photography.

On holidays I used to lug my SLR, underwater camera, 3 or 4 lenses, underwater housings, and all manner of bibs and bobs.

These days we still take at least two cameras; a waterproof point & shoot and a GoPro. If it is an important trip I also take the SLR and ONE extra lens.

Backing up my image files takes hours and hours and hours...
