Atlanta 2017

Post by commodore jim »

Merely speculation on my part, not based on anything otherwise. But I was thinking, with the flux in venues in Atlanta and Jimmy reportedly not going back to Lakewood, whether he may play at Sun Trust Park this year. Jimmy is already scheduled for Wrigley this year while the Braves have already announced Billy Joel as the first concert there on Friday April 27, an away date for the Braves. I think that would work; otherwise much prefer Verizon to Gwinnett. Regardless, looking forward to the park opening and all the other surrounding places.

Just trying to put 1 1/2 and 1 1/2 together ...

I'm with you! I'd love to see a Buffett show at Verizon, but he seems to have a sweetheart deal at Gwinnette.

Here's to hoping.

I agree that Buffett should try a show at Verizon Amphitheater in Alpharetta. It's got a similar feel to Lakewood - but is newer and nicer. There is a great big lot for tailgating. Add me to the group that is tired of Gwinnett Infinite Energy Center.

No word yet, but last years show was not announced until March first. Given the recent releases of Houston and Tampa, I would not be surprised to see an ATL show on June 6th or 10th but that is just my guess. I am hoping he returns to an out door venue this year. Though I do like the tailgating arrangement at the Infinite Energy Center. It was a lively parking lot last year!

The 10th is out with Frisco being announced. So I am banking on the 6th. Again just my guess. Tuesday would make sense as he typically does not sell out Atlanta anymore. Save the sell outs for Saturdays.

Frankly I just want a date!!!

Phins up and Happy Margarita day all!

Hmmm...an Atlanta date on Tuesday, June 6th does make sense. As of now, it looks like both Infinite Energy Center (Gwinnett Center) and Verizon Amphitheatre have open dates on June 6th. Still hoping for Verizon. The Braves have a home game at SunTrust Park that night, so a stadium show wouldn't be an option.

Just came across this article referencing last years show at Infinite Energy Center reporting that Jimmy grossed nearly a million dollars from the show alone. Has to be hard to pass that money up again no?!?!

And now the June 6th is out with Orange Beach, Al being confirmed. Perhaps I'll make my way to the beach instead of the ATL. Buffett at the beach?!?! A perfect situation there.

Mid March is late for an Atlanta concert announcement. Starting to get anxious and a little annoyed. I'm considering going to the Orlando show in May if an Atlanta date isn't announced in the next few weeks.

I'm getting concerned myself. JB tickets have been my standing order for my birthday present. Sadly I think Jimmy's done with Lakewood. Verizon seems a little uptight for our Parrothead crowd. Fingers crossed and Fins up!

I think I am past nervous and am actually working on coming to grips with no Atlanta show. Seems to me like there are three more openings and last night's rum hazed theory has them penciled in for Indy, Riverbend's 50th, and Star Lake. A trip to the south does not fit in July or August.

The addition of Riverbend, which is a great Venue to see Buffett on the 8th leaves an open date between Detroit and Wrigley and 1-2 dates before or after the northeast run in August. Neither travel path indicate a return to Atl. I think it is time to figure out other plans! VA beach was okay, Bristow was great before the tent ban, Indy, which would fit in nicely between Detroit and Wrigley is a good place to see a show as well. Star Lake was a great venue as well. Had a blast in Tampa a few years ago. At least there are choices this year when we all thought (and were told) that Jimmy was taking time off.
