Heat or not, I wish I were going! A scorching day at a Buffett tailgate is better than a day at work!

My consession to the predicted heat is that Carmen may give up on the long skirt and go with shorts or a sundress with her hat instead.

I'd love to see the whole get-up, but heck, it'll be nice to meet ya, no matter what you wear.KeyLimin wrote:My consession to the predicted heat is that Carmen may give up on the long skirt and go with shorts or a sundress with her hat instead.

Maybe we should all park up on the grassy hill instead? It was hot last year but at least it was grass. When we went down to walk around the parking lot, it was darned near unbearable with the asphalt.
I know it's a longer walk but the sun starts to lose its grip on the heat around 5, so it won't be so bad by 7 or so when people start shuffling toward the door.
Well??
And also, like my other post, could I get someone's # so I can call and see where you're parked? If not, I guess we'll just be tossed to the wolves and have to GULP meet new people on our own!!

I think we should not tell others that that is the plan and keep the grassy hill to ourselves.Tangobutt wrote:Maybe we should all park up on the grassy hill instead? Hope to see you in the lot too! But as of today, I've got no hard confirmation on the ticket.
Maybe I'll end up seeing you in the lot but not after

Kevin usually sends out the cell phone list a couple of days before the show. If you sent or will send him a PM with your cell number, you will get and be on the list. See first post in this thread.Tangobutt wrote:Maybe we should all park up on the grassy hill instead? It was hot last year but at least it was grass. If you are looking for tickets, there have been some offers on the Detroit Parrothead Club message board....OMiTT wrote:Hope to see you in the lot too! But as of today, I've got no hard confirmation on the ticket.

The answer is that no one knows for sure. A hundred people could call the venue to ask....and get a hundred different answers.
It usually depends on how bad traffic gets backed up on the highway. If the highway gets blocked, the sheriffs will force DTE to open the lot.
I would say 1:30-2pm is a historical average....some years a little earlier, some a little later.

my friends and I started a tradition a few years back to eat at Joe's before the show. Last year we got on the highway after our normal "buffett curse" problems after dinner around 330pm. The highway was already extremely backed up and they were putting people on the grass overflow lot.
P.S. I still need some tickets for my friend and my fiance. If you really think someone in your party cant handle the heat let me know and I'll take their ticket. Mainly looking for lawn right now but that might change. I can pm anyone who is unsure of their party's attendance my cell number.

The Pine Knob monsoon show of a few years back was quite entertaining
(I wasn't on the lawn though)
We most definitely were...at least until I stood up and tried to walk....then I slid to the bottom in my raincoat!

If you asked to be on the phone list, check your email. I sent it out a few minutes ago!
Btw Marty, it would appear you are out of the office
