Just a thought I had, so I'm throwing it out here...

What if Jimmy doesn't sing many of the older songs simply because he CAN'T? Perhaps he just can't hit the range on some of those songs like he used to, and he'd rather not have it sound like crap. Let's face it, Jimmy's voice is often flat or off key on many of the songs he does perform (which is not unusual for ANY artist in a live performance). Maybe after all these years he just feels he can't do them justice. Considering the number of songs Jimmy has, I doubt this is true for all of them, but maybe for some of the older stuff that he might want to play.

I have nothing scientific or expert to support this, just a musician's ear. Like everything else that has been brought up, it is a possiblity.

Since I have been so badly trashed on this forum, I only want to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Parrot Monkey, and those who have supported his comments.

My wife Peg and I were so disappointed with the setlist, and the homogenious, lackluster performance of the JB and the Reefers, that we left prior to the encores.

Of course Jimmy can go on playing his SYKBH setlist as long as people are willing to pay their money to hear it. However, if you are a longtime fan of JB and his music, you KNOW how much depth he has in his back catalog of music, and how little of it he still is performing. Overall, the shows are really becoming threadbare, stale, and downright lazy.

Monday night's performance at Great Woods was one of the saddest musical events of my adult life, in that I got the distinct feeling that the Jimmy we used to know and love had been replaced by a "Stepford Buffett" who is obviously more interested in money than music.

Conched, I like Jimmy's "sound" better than in the earlier years, but he mis-hits notes quite a bit. But maybe he did as well in the earlier years, I only started going to his concerts in the late 90's.
