Just a thought I had, so I'm throwing it out here...

What if Jimmy doesn't sing many of the older songs simply because he CAN'T? Perhaps he just can't hit the range on some of those songs like he used to, and he'd rather not have it sound like crap. Let's face it, Jimmy's voice is often flat or off key on many of the songs he does perform (which is not unusual for ANY artist in a live performance). Maybe after all these years he just feels he can't do them justice. Considering the number of songs Jimmy has, I doubt this is true for all of them, but maybe for some of the older stuff that he might want to play.

I have nothing scientific or expert to support this, just a musician's ear. Like everything else that has been brought up, it is a possiblity.

And Larry? Got it.

All I know is they should've played stump the band Monday night...when he forgot what song he was supposed to be singing I thought I'd have a good chance at stumping them!! ;-)

I actually think Jimmy's voice is better than it was a long time ago on many of the songs he does. It must be those sips of rum!! :)

incorrect count of the SYKBH songs . .? ?

:o
No

Mr. "I have an extensive vocabulary and don't need a thesaurus" is so busy trying to impress everyone with his knowledge of the English language and the ability to use $5 words when $0.10 ones will do that he's making up new words for the rest of us.

My wife Peg and I were so disappointed with the setlist, and the homogenious, lackluster performance of the JB and the Reefers, that we left prior to the encores.

Of course Jimmy can go on playing his SYKBH setlist as long as people are willing to pay their money to hear it. However, if you are a longtime fan of JB and his music, you KNOW how much depth he has in his back catalog of music, and how little of it he still is performing. Overall, the shows are really becoming threadbare, stale, and downright lazy.

Monday night's performance at Great Woods was one of the saddest musical events of my adult life, in that I got the distinct feeling that the Jimmy we used to know and love had been replaced by a "Stepford Buffett" who is obviously more interested in money than music.

There is no such word as homogenious. Now he might have meant homogenous, or homogeneous (it can be spelled either way), or even similar, which is a perfectly fine word. But since he chose to use a non-existent word I'll leave his comment open to each individual's interpretation.

Conched, I like Jimmy's "sound" better than in the earlier years, but he mis-hits notes quite a bit. But maybe he did as well in the earlier years, I only started going to his concerts in the late 90's.

It appears that instead of addressing the point of my message, you have chosen the low-road, and are attacking my spelling.

My mind is quite open. But I don't go around patting myself on the back about my ability to use the English language, then use non-existent words. "Rhelm" also comes to mind. If you want to impress people with your intelligence it might work better if you actually showed some.

Well LIPH, for once we are in agreement.

But in so far as pomposity is concerned, I am not the only one here guilty of this. Check out a mirror for another culprit.

You would have to be standing behind me for that to work.
