He stayed over last year.....

And while it's interesting to play the "Where in the World is Jimmy Buffett" game, it's pretty much none of our bidness where he is or where he stays....

And the people who watch this board and know where Jimmy are probably laughing their azzes off.... :P
...I, my kids, my wife just happen to pass the hangars on Daniels Hole Road several times each week in our day-to-day travels, so this is just a normal observation about the "Hamptons" airport, like "didja see Morty Zuckerman's new 9000?"...not celebrity stalking...I'll leave that to people who need a life. AM planes are easy to spot because the hangar's next to the road, and the Falcon will not fit in the Sound hangar. So, when I see the 208 there, I figure it's a good possibility that JB is in town (based on what I have been told)...even when the Falcon is elsewhere. But since I've been "set straight" on this now, I will in the future no longer conclude that JB is in town when *I* think he is. However, in the future if I am in doubt of JB's whereabouts, I'll be sure to ask "the people who watch this board" since JB, Ramos, or Kino, or somebody must be have them on their Blackberry speed dial.
You might be surprised who reads this board....

Earlier this year, I'm sure they got a good chuckle when a thread here insisted JB was in Key West. Except he was in Panama at the time, and played an impromptu set in a bar that was related in another, more accurate, thread.

Not everyone on this board agrees with me on this next point, but I feel pretty strongly about it... While you're not a stalker, anyone who posts personal information about Jimmy or any other celebrity on the internet (addresses of houses, locations of planes, etc) just made it infinitely easier for a real stalker to find him.... And I don't think it's cool to post that kind of thing.... But then, one of my jobs is personal security (in a different realm, my job is very much like Charleston's job), so I know how easily a seemingly small piece of information can cause a real problem. It makes me cringe, from a professional standpoint, when I see personal info posted....

Well SGH, I totally agree with you on the privacy issue. You see, this is a SMALL town here, with wall-to-wall celebrities in the summer. When we moved here we found out that the locals respect the celebrities privacy. Almost everyone who lives here knows where JB lives, and Sienfeld, Spielberg, Alec Baldwin, P-Ditty, Paul McCartney, Sting, and on and on and on. I know of no one here who would violate the privacy of any of these folks. Most locals know where JB's parking space in Sag is, but they sure as hell wouldln't tell an "outsider". I joked with a couple of ladies at the Talkhouse about driving by JB's house and yelling just to get Charleston worked up, but believe me, first *I* would never tell, and second, if you knew JB's address, you'd get about two feet down that oyster shell driveway before all hell broke loose - Mr. Miles is a nice guy, but I don't like his "Game Face". With regard to his neighbors divulging his address, that's wrong. As far as where he parks his planes, it doesn't take a rocket scientist (if the person is up to no good) to figure this out. AM planes are parked in clear site of a busy local road, and again remember, there are a number of planes here in this small airport that belong to celebrities of a much greater stature (subject to personal opinion), and though not obvious, an interloper on the tarmac here will be dealt with in a timely manner.

Believe me on this, I would not be surprised by the frequency that people who have to call JB "Mister Buffett" drop in here, or COBO, or the Margaritaville board.

Oh yeah, I came by the airport a few minutes ago, but I didn't look :)...I swear.

Hey, since it's a Buffett board not a Sting board, I'm sure no one will care if you tell me where Stings house is...

Personal security folks with "Game Face" on are never, ever to be messed with, at great peril to your freedom, safety, or at least to your remaining inside a concert venue. :o  :D

You're right, Charleston's a great guy, but no doubt that can change reaaalllly quickly if it has to. At Monday's show, where I was lucky enough to be sitting way stage right, but fairly close to the stage, a few people surged forward toward the barrier. Charleston just *looked* at them and pointed his finger back toward where they came from. I remember people *scurrying* to get outta there.... They saw Charleston's "No-sh*t-do-not-screw-with-me-I'm-serious-you-GO-now" face.

As far as the location of JB's place in Sag, knowing how saturated y'all are with celebrities, and how locals in such places *usually* respect said celebrities' privacy, I was dismayed to hear his neighbor spewing forth.... :-? No one asked the guy, either.... As far as I'm concerned, I certainly have no "need to know".... When JB (or any other public figure) is working? Fair game to say hello. When they're at their home? OFF LIMITS. I had a (former) friend who used to literally go peeping through the bushes at celebrity homes near Hollywood. (Thus the "former".... )

And hey, you coulda looked.... Just as long as you PMed it friends instead of posting it for the world to see.... :P :D

So, one more sermon for the day... :P

As far as posting where the plane is, let me give you a for-instance:

Let’s take a real stalker who’s mentally unbalanced, and out to do Jimmy harm. Yes, he could stake out that airport and wait for Jimmy’s plane to show. But he probably won’t “fit” in the Hamptons, in more ways than one. He’ll probably stick out like a sore thumb. And if you sit watching an airport these days, even a small airport, you’re going to have a visit by law enforcement in a fairly short time.

So, if it’s posted on the net that “Hey, Jimmy’s plane is gone,” or something similar, the bad guy knows that sooner or later that plane will be back, and he doesn’t have to spend a lot of time watching for it. He can sit back, watch the internet, and pick up the plane's schedule, all without being seen.

That tiny piece of seemingly harmless information just gave a stalker an edge people like Mr. Miles wished didn’t exist.

So, yeah, it seems harmless, and it doesn’t take rocket science to figure out where that airport is, but it’s a lot harder to get close enough to do any of those celebrities harm, and any piece of info we give them, even inadvertently, could be disastrous in the wrong hands... :-?

Okay, security sermon over for the day. Carry on. :D

Or the bad guy could just go to the concert with sec 2. tickets and shoot him. I know it sounds pshyco to even say that, but what's to stop sombody from doing it? There is no real security at these venues to speak of.

I got patted down at Mohegan Sun Friday (really enjoyed it, too :o) and I had to empty my pockets before they let me in. That's been happening at more and more venues the last couple of years. It's only a mater of time before we'll have to go through metal detectors on the way inside.

I would estimate that I could have easily carried a large frame handgun into 90% of the shows I've been to. With very rare exceptions, all I ever get is the obligatory "pocket pat" and I walk right through. It's strictly window dressing, IMO.

They had metal detectors in Vegas. However, they must not have been set very high as people walked through with coins and keys, and I got through with my little digital camera.

On that other statement...god forbid.....

If you're ever close enough to them when they're working, watch their eyes. They NEVER stop moving...

Charleston broke up a fight in about the 8th row last night before the venue security people even noticed it was happening... They escorted the drunken idjit out......
