My daughter sings "I have family at home" instead of "found me a home".

Speaking of the Great Lyrics Compilation, I tried to go to it recently, and it seems to have disappeared! Does anyone know of a comparable site? I also misunderstood "Wal-Mart" in "Frank and Lola" and it sure would help figure out a few more mysteries if there was some place to see lyrics!

When the SOASOAS site went away, the GLC and the GCC (the chord compilation) were both picked up by CoB,O (The Church of Buffett, Orthodox).
Here is the link:

Thank you very much! Just looking around this site today, and I found The Church of Buffett site, with the lyrics! But, thanks for your help!

Maybe this could be another song parody for "Sonofabeach" involving Tanya. You all know that old JB standard, "Diamond As Big As Your Tits", right?

i thought "come monday" was "come on babe" until i was thirteen and looking at the back of a cd case, and couldn't figure out what song "come monday" was.
also thought that "they stopped at several raw bars" was "they stopped at several wal-marts."
and in "livingston saturday night", there's that line that goes "pickup's washed and you just got paid." i thought that was "chicken's washed and you just got paid". couldn't figure out why you'd wash a chicken, and if you did, why you'd sing about it. then i found the real words.

When I looked up the words to Fins, I then checked a dictionary to see what "remora" was !

Mis-heard lyrics on Pascagoula Run: when I first began listening to Buffett, someone taped Beaches, Bars, etc., but didn't include a list of titles or lyrics. I thought "kid, you're gonna see the mornin sun on the BATHROOM RUG" !!! for SIX MONTHS that's what I thought it was. It even made sense, he's been in a bar, he's passed out in the bathroom...Even now, two years later, I occasionally catch myself singing it wrong.

Glad I found this ! Until 10 minutes ago, I thought Frank & Lola stopped at several Wal-Marts ! Slurping Slurpees, maybe ? No, that's 7-11...

Forgive me if you've heard this confession before (what is this, Church of Buffett?) but every time I sing "Boat Drinks" when I get to the part following "newspapers mention cheap airfare" (ain't THAT a thing of the past) I would always sing "I've got a plot of sand somewhere" as though the singer somehow forgot about his beach house in St. Barth.

I used to think in GOBNUp it said:

"Then crack went my leg, like the shell of an egg,
someone caught the piece in position"

In Volcano, for the longest time i thought it was
"Hey Mr. Ugly!" instead of "Hey Mr. Utley!"

Funny how we all mis-understand the lyrics and they don't make sense 90% of the time.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

CILCIA

Good time at Rich's and son of a b****s.

Or

Good time and riches and parties at Rich's!
I think I'll take my shoes off and go walking
Down beside the Carribean Sea
I like the funny sounds of parrots squawking
I think I hear a hammock calling me

We, for far too short a stay, once had a wonderful and sorely missed kitty named "Margo Quigley"

As in, "Margo Quigley said to me, " James you'd better watch your feet!"

Conversation between me and my 15 Y.O. daughter:

Me: ...Jimmy Buffett's wife is named Jane.
Daughter: Jimmy Buffett has a wife?!? I thought he was gay.
Me: What?! Why would you think that Jimmy is gay?
Daughter: Because he sings that song "Come On Dave".
Me: I don't think I know that one.
Daughter: (singing lyrics) Come on Dave, It'll be alright. Come on Dave, I'll be holding you tight...
Me: (laughing hysterically!!!!!) You mean "Come Monday"? Ha! Ha! Ha!
I do it for the stories I can tell!!!
